Ties that Bine Double IPA 9% ABV, Somewhere South of 100 IBU’s
Don’t Buy This Beer! It’s not for you! We brewed it for HOP HEADS ONLY! This Double IPA is our second Collaboration Beer with the Twisted Pine Brewing Company from Boulder, Colorado. They invited us to brew another beer with them for the Colorado Craft Beer Collaboration Festival held in Denver, Colorado. Our first collab was a big malty Weizenbock.
This year we decided to brew something for the Hop Heads. The malt bill is simple so as to not overpower the hops. Our recipe called for the most hops either of us ever used in a beer. 116 lbs in total. 50lbs in the kettle and 33 lbs for each dry hopping, yes we dry hopped twice. We chose hard to come by varieties like, Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic, Equinox, and Hallertau Blanc. Big piney aroma with notes of mango and grapefruit. Yes you can make an IPA without Amarillo hops. They drove down and we brewed the first one here then headed up to Boulder to brew theirs. Twisted Pine Brewing Company is a great place with awesome beer and grub, not a bad view either.

I'd go today but they are having some nasty weather in that area so I'll have to put it off until the weekend.
I was starting to think IPA's were waning but with stories like this and looking at the beer aisle, I guess not.

The Blind Tiger is in Topeka. It was chosen as the best Brew Pub in America last year by the BA. I know a place you could stay for free if you ever want to visit.
