When I do use mine, I do this too. But the way I have it mounted to the work bench in the basement doesn't give me much clearance for a large bowl under it. So I have to constantly stop grinding to empty the bowl out. Kind of a PITA. Maybe if I rig some sort of catch tube so it runs down into a bucket on the floor???

FG came in at 1.008 for a 4.4% ABV. Also dropped all those tasty dry hops in for 4 days. Sample tasted pretty good. Maybe a touch more bitter than I wanted, but that's what happens when you miss your OG like I did. But the flavor was surely there. Should be a good session IPA.

I'm sure it'll be fine. They say 5% isn't a real session beer anyway so it seems like yours really is.

This has been in the keg for almost a week. I figured I would pour half a glass as a taste test and to blow out the crap out of the bottom of the keg. Well, I'm on my third full glass. My neighbor came over to help me move a book shelve and I paid him with a glass also.

The aroma on this is stellar, and the flavor is great too. If this is what I get when I miss my number, I hope I miss them all the time. I'm brining some of this to Asheville, so you all that will be there will have to give me your opinion. My neighbor said it may be one of the best ones that I've made, he just wanted to keep his nose stuck in the glass.

This is wonderful to hear. The hops in this beer make almost any version just too good to dis. I'm very much forward looking to hating this version but am 100% sure that won't be possible. :)
Last year your Fruit Salad IPA was the hit of the trip. Sounds like part 2 is just as good.

I'm jumping on this bandwagon and have the session version of this scaled down to 3.5G to brew next weekend. I was going to do a full 5G but:
1) I want to see how this comes out
2) I really want to use my 3.5G SS Mini Bucket so I need to brew something small quantity :D

This will be the first run of a small batch through my 7G cooler, too. Yeah, I know I can brew 5 in the same amount of time, but I refer you back to #1 above :p

Thanks for the recipe guys. I do love the combo, but hoping it's Simcoe-dominant?

I got a good mix of both hops. When I did it the second time, I added some sugar which did dry it out a bit. I liked both recipes I did but the one with corn sugar added didn't seem to have as much aroma as the first one without it. Either way, I think you can't go wrong with this simple but tasty recipe.

Hey Ron....not sure if you noticed or not, but the recipe for the session that I posted a couple pages back was adjusted slightly. I mentioned in one of the posts after the recipe that the store didn't have all the hops I needed so I subbed some Citra in. Not sure if you noticed that adjustment or not.

I did, but since I have 5G (or slightly less now) of the Big n Juicy around which is Mosaic/Citra I 'll be sticking to the Simcoe/Amarillo.

I know I'm jumping into an old thread but it just so happens that I've been planning to brew an IPA with Simcoe and Amarillo. I'll probably pull the hops back a bit because I'm not a lover of super hoppy IPAs.( but I'm getting closer to being a hop head with each brew).
I don't have any wheat or rye on hand but I have some Munich and Vienna.I.ll have to see what crystal malt I have. I don't want to drive to the LHBS.
I've got US-05 but I think I'm going to use Denny's favorite yeast.
My beers tend to sit around for a while because my wife's mainly a wine drinker. I might factor that into the amount of hops used.
Thanks for the recipe!

I just thought of another thing to mention. I will be using the Zymatic for this and will have to account for lower hop utilization with the Z. I haven't learned to compensate for this yet because I've been making stouts and porters lately.
