Two Hearted - 2nd look
Some time ago I had a Two Hearted Ale in a restaurant and was completely unimpressed and disappointed. It was awful. Some of you suggested that perhaps their beer lines weren’t clean, but I have not tried it again since then. However, the Easter Beer Hunt yielded 2 bottles of the stuff so I tried it again this evening. I like it! Which is a good thing, because I have 2 kits of a clone that I bought only because they were on sale. Now I can look forward to brewing and drinking them!

I've never had one myself but it's on my list to try if I do find one.

Ive done the Northern Brewer clone kit. It was good, but not earth shattering. Some describe Cenntennial as a super Casacde, but I've never found the super part. It was good.

I like Two Hearted very much. Not enough to marry it, or anything, but enough to hang out together and watch a movie or a ballgame.

Years ago when I first had it, I went somewhat gaga. Clean, fresh, the perfect amount of bitter vs. flavor. I still think it's a great beer (which will be coming to NOLA sometime in 2016) and I'd buy some for the fridge but I can't say I'm as enamored with it as I use to be. It's a must try IPA for IPA lovers but certainly not a top 10 for me.

Two Hearted was one of the 1st IPA's I ever had. Not only that, but one of the first that I really liked and still do. It has a nice balance, nice malt sweetness with good hop flavor and aroma. It's simple, it's classic and original... it's been around a long time. Maybe it doesn't fit in with the new IPA's and all the new hops out there, but that helps make it what it is.

It sort of sounds like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. An early example of the style, not overly interesting by today's standards, but a solid go-to.
That about right?

Compared to SNPA, it's a bit more malty and a bit less perceived bitter, and has a bit more complex, more floral hop aroma and flavor because it's Centennial based instead of Cascade based. It is not "West Coast" style, the yeast is a bit more fruity, and the malt is a bit more noticeable. Not as much as some East coast styles though.
My X-SWMBO who doesn't like IPAs for the most part actually likes that beer. But she does not like SNPA (too much perceived bitter).
