Speaking of Mr Beer Forum, has anyone else noticed that CEO Mike doesn't have an account on the forum anymore? I saw that just before the "upgrade", when we could still search for people. I'm wondering if he left the company and joined up with his old partner who split off and started that "other" company.

Not sure where Mike went but I can assure you it wasn't with Sam at BrewDemon!

Heck, I was just over there to check out the action, and I almost got knocked over by a tumbleweed. It must have been getting whipped about pretty fast by the sucking wind created by everyone heading over here. :mow:

Indeed way too quiet over there and the crickets are getting louder by the day. My guess is that the upgrade is all about the ECom side of things and having an account tied to such. And the sub-par forum aspect of the entire package didn't carry any weight in the decision making.

Did not even bother today. I used to give MR B kits as gifts to help friends get started. No longer I will give the occasional 5 gallon starter kit. lots of help and some grains & hops.

As far as going back, jeesh I dont think there is a reason.

As far as ordering from MB any more, hmm it would have to be a fanfatabolousily good sale and possibly a coupon.
Glad I stocked up when I did at a great price.

Yeah TBH I don't see myself going back either.
It sucks in a way because I wouldn't have found this community to begin with if it wasn't for that forum.
And they were home to our great community for years...but as they say, the winds of change are blowing.

Hopefully this site gains popularity for it's information combined with an awesome community. Google can lead new brewers to us...

I have to say, that many times, I've felt guilty about using Mr. Beer's forum to discuss my brews as I don't really brew Mr. Beer anymore. I've done only 1 kit in 2013 and not only do I know my AG's are better but I can't justify the price. Of course, for 30 minutes work vs. 4/5 hours, it has it's place but why should I spout my brewing on a forum really for Mr. Beer. So, I give them props and thank them for that.
Depending on what improvements they make, I'll likely visit there though Louie has pretty much made a very nice home for us and others.

Indeed, those MrB recipes are quite handy when needing to throw together a small batch to keep the pipeline full, and they can be done on a work-night no problem. But for the most part, I'm like you Beer-lord -- I prefer doing the AG, even if it does take 4-5 hours.
