New Brewer in Columbus Georgia

Post by Verge_25 »

Here in Columbus craft beer always meant Guinness, Newcastle, or go home. Then restaurants started serving wider selections, then we got a brewpub in Phenix City, and now a store downtown called Maltitude that almost exclusively sells craft beer both bottled and from the tap. We still only have one store that sells brewing equipment, simply called Homebrew. I got into it a couple of years ago, but only ever brewed from kits. Like many, I was intimidated by how complex all-grain brewing sounded. Now that I've seen people do it first-hand, I feel very confident I could do it myself. I hope to get skilled enough to design my own recipes as well as crack the recipes of my favorite beers! The new owner of Homebrew recommended this site, so here I am! Eager and ready to learn!

Welcome Verge, great to have you here! The new owner would be Jim Johnson or JJ as we call him here. We will be glad to help you with any questions you can think of. All of us here were new brewers at one time and would like to help pay it forward. Did you swing by Homebrew in late February when JJ was having the class? If so then we've met. I was brewing BIAB with Jim that day.

I swung by a liquor store on the way out of town. It was next to a Harley dealer? Y'all have a very nice selection down there.

Hey Verge! Welcome to the Borg! We're happy to help you make whatever you want. Designing recipes can be as simple or complex as you want. Knowledge simply comes with time, effort, and drinking your mistakes. Ask questions and enjoy the hobby!

Verge_25 welcome. However, I'm not the owner(I wish) didn't mean to give that impression. I'm just the Shopkeeper, workin' for a buck just like you...I just got the dream job is all. :lol:
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."
