Trying to get back in the swing of things

Post by LouieMacGoo »

As many of you know I've had a particularly rough few months with the various family health issues and other things that have really taken me out of the hobbies and things that I enjoy doing, but things are starting to settle down and getting back to so resemblance of normal, whatever that might be. As such I am planning to brew tomorrow for the first time in nearly 6 months. My LHBS is having a "Brew with Friends" day and is offering 1/2 off all ingredients if you brew onsite that day so I figured I would take advantage of it to get me back into it. I'm not sure what I will brew, something simple I think but I haven't even touched my brewing equipment since last fall except to move it around the garage and/or basement. So I have some organizing and cleaning to do tonight before brewing tomorrow.

Also I am hoping to be more active here on the forum and website as a whole and I have some things I want to start working on to keep the site growing and make sure we continue to have new and fresh perspectives about our brewing and our beer.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prays over the last few months and also for keeping the Borg humming along without any upheavals

:thanks:  .

Leigh you know, nothing helps you to decompress better than a nice enjoyable brewday. It's good hearing from you, and knowing that things have begun getting better for you. Nothing lifts the spirit like having a bubbling fermentor to check on. Enjoy your upcoming brewday, it's well deserved.

Well the weather here is cold :freeze: and rainy and I couldn't find all my brewing equipment, it kind of got scattered between the garage and basement when my Mother-in-law moved in so I will have to plan on brewing another day. Fortunately the LHBS will be holding these brew days every month through October so I will make sure to be ready for the next one in June. In the meantime I will brew the couple of BrewDemon recipes I have on hand and get my brewing crap together so i can get my BIAB on.

This is almost like starting over again. :wow:

It's good to hear that you won't need to feel pressured when getting your brewing gear together. I know firsthand that planning for a brewday is just as rewarding as brewing a batch, sans the beer of course.

I'm running into that a bit too Leigh. You don't just "throw a brew day together" like you do when you are brewing regularly.

I can totally relate to this. Trying to find my brew groove once again as well. Good to see you back, Louie. I hope you (and I) find time to brew and to visit the site more in the near future...
