I think there's some truth to this, but IMHO if you mix it up between funk and sour, you can mitigate that the same way as mixing other styles with IPAs. Of course, I'm sure the acidity and the bottle conditioning on a lot of these might have caused some adverse affects on some non-seasoned attendees, and I know one guy had a pretty severe allergic reaction about 1/2 hour in, leading to him spending a fair portion of the fest in the office taking Benedryl...Kealia wrote:How does your palette hold up during a day of tasting sours and funky beers? I know even doing IPAs during a beerfest that my palette starts to fade after a number of them.

Kinda scary there, could have been a fruit allergy, Donna is allergic to raspberry. Whenever someone has a fruited homebrew at HB Club meetings we are sure to ask.swenocha wrote:Of course, I'm sure the acidity and the bottle conditioning on a lot of these might have caused some adverse affects on some non-seasoned attendees, and I know one guy had a pretty severe allergic reaction about 1/2 hour in, leading to him spending a fair portion of the fest in the office taking Benedryl...Kealia wrote:How does your palette hold up during a day of tasting sours and funky beers?
