Who Needs Bottle Caps?

Post by brewnewb »

Hey Gang - I need to clean out some clutter in my brewing area.

I literally have about 800 bottle caps left over from a bunch of Brewers Best 5 gal kits.

I'd hate to just throw them away but I don't want to go broke shipping them to someone that could use them.

Thoughts?

Shipping is indeed the challenge. Last batch I bought (2,000) ran 1.5 cents each including shipping. And that's not a small box.

Regional Flat Rate is the answer, even to me in Michigan that would be $6.15, and you need a regional box (has to be ordered by mail, cannot be picked up at Post Office).
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...

US Mail, it would take probably their smallest "if it fits it ships" box. Have whoever wants them to pay shipping charges.

You might be able to ship them cheaply first class.
I also have a bunch of extra caps, bottles too, since I started kegging.

Never mind, there it is.

I occasionally bottle the odd batch--but I have plenty of caps.

I do have bottles galore, though. You could try posting on craigslist, or if you use Reddit, posting on the r/homebrewing and/or if you have a reddit for your city, cross post there.

That's what I intend to do to get rid of my extra bottles. One of these days, anyway!

Maaan--you, me and Ray are probably responsible for Straub stopping with those!

Looks like Straub was the last company to use returnable bottles. Yeungling stopped using them shortly before Straub did.

If I were you, I'd hang on to those.
