Today is my first brewday in a while. Doing my modification of Dave's 100 Years War IPA. I added a bit more amber malt than the original recipe that brings it up to about 8% ABV when done. Thanks again to Dave for posting it a while back. This is my favorite extract/partial mash recipe.

Racked 5 gallons of my 6 month old Tart of Darkness clone onto 2 lbs dried cherries and 2.5 lbs dried figs. Gravity was 1.008 and base beer tasted really good. Will add oak cubes in a few months and probably bottle around 18 months total.

Since I have to take one of my kids to get on a bus in 2 hours, I am brewing in the middle of the night to pass time (no point in going to sleep now). But I'm keeping it simple. 1.045 SMaSH of pale malt and a couple oz of Styrian Aurora (1oz @20, 1oz @flameout, 30 minute hop stand with all the hops), and will pitch S-04. Should make a nice pale ale.

That Fig idea does sound interesting, no doubt.
Well here's a new one I brewed today. It's a new line(?) of beer recipes from Midwest Supplies called A Beer. Simply Beer. This one was a Pale Ale 5G Extract w/Steeping grains recipe. I bought the Pale Ale, Brown Ale, and IPA recipes.

I bottled my continuously hopped bohemian style (as in lots of sazz) pilsner that I used the swiss lager yeast in. It fermented warm, finished fast, and is still very clean, I would say "kolsch like clean" vs. "lager clean" but still pretty nice for a pilsner brewed in the 60s.

Next up is some kind of Belgian, maybe I will brew my regular patersbier but throw some of the lavender I have in it. Because I still have a lot of it. I'm calling it Belgian and Saison season at my house now since I had to turn on my air conditioner airborne brett infuser.

Bottling 5 gallons of Not Fat, Stout.  Oatmeal Stout, including adding an ounce of cold steeped coffee concentrate into 40% of the bottles.

Well that didn't go so well with the RCE. Ended up .05 points too low because I jacked up my mash out and/or didn't boil hard enough. And burned a hole in my brew bag.

Then found a bee floating in the boil when transferring.

Not my best brewday, but it'll make beer.

just bottled 2.8 gals of sd-slims simply limeade (avec lemonade ) hefeweizen. (from another forum...still a great recipe slim wherever you are)
next to bottle on sunday, a witbier made with grains of paradise, Valencia orange peel and the tiniest bit of coriander... and a dash of honey for fun.
the week after that I rack my RIS to secondary fermenters for 2 months..perhaps 3. the banana has finally subsided. eager to try this one.
soon.. doing an Eldorado / ahtanum IPA with gold lme and carapils. plans on the books for : saison, another stout, and either patersbier or trippel.
the brew bug is alive still.. now if only the heat would go away. .. and the damn wasps.
