NEWS: Mitch Steele leaving Stone:: Beer-lord in tears

Post by Kealia »

Not kidding here. Here's a short 5-minute interview with him discussing it. He's going to be opening his own brewery and no doubt he'll have a HUGE following when he does.

One does not a hoppy beer make though I will mourn this divorce a bit.
I've wondered lately with all the talk from Stone against the big boys, how it's starting to look like they are getting to big. A new brewery in Virginia, a new one in Germany and from what I hear, a few new taproom/restaurants as well.
I almost teared up myself. You know he'll do well whatever it is he does.

Is it possible to be "big" and "small" at the same time?

Is it a matter of size or a matter of integrity?

I hope this doesn't do to Stone what losing their brew master did to Green Flash (tho I don't put GF quite in the same Stone category in my personal lists)?

This is definitely a big loss but I'm very interested in what his offer was and what he will be able to do that he wasn't at Stone.....unless maybe someone is bankrolling his own brewery.

That's what I took from it.
And yeah, he was pretty emotional which speaks to how much he not only loves what he is doing, but the people he works with. We should all be so lucky.
