Dads, what are you doing for Father's Day?

Post by Beer-lord »

I know Father's Day is not nearly as big of a deal as Mother's Day but what do the Borg dad's have planned?
My son lives out of town and won't be in and normally, I just chill at home but I thought I'd start the day with a brew of Simply Simarello and some friends talked me in to going to one of our favorite tap rooms in the afternoon so could I say no?
That's good enough for me though I think this is just another day made up by Hallmark to sell cards!

I haven't the slightest idea what I'm doing. Sleeping in? No brews planned.

I am not a dad, but I will be taking my dad to see the motorcycle races. Round 2 of AMA speedway in ventura, CA. He doesn't get out much due to macular degeneration and dementia starting to set in. It is a blast and it always takes him back to his youth when he used to race flat track, even though I have to hear the same stories over and over.

Unfortunately the track only serves BMC, but who cares I am getting to spend time away from the property with dad.

No big plans here, which is fine by me.

Likely breakfast with my wife and daughter and dinner with my FIL. Just good quality time.

I'm heading to the US Open on Saturday. Otherwise, we'll be visiting the in laws. May sneak over to Cleveland for a day too.

Keep me in mind if you do get to Cleveland, see if we can meet up somewhere for a beer. I am 15 minutes east of Downtown.

Enjoy the time with your dad Whamo.

The wife and I are going to the Naked Cat Ranch (for the new guys, we are friends with a Sphynx cat breeder). A group of us are meeting down there for food and good company. A few dads will be around. We will see Kinky and I'll update that thread with a picture.

Looks like I'll be brewing an IPA with a friend who is interested in homebrewing. We were going to brew tomorrow, but it looks like Sunday is our better option. Will be good to be brewing again... first time since February.

I have no plans, never do as I feel un-comfortable with it after they grew up. As I told my kids "You've all grown to be people I'd be proud to call friend, that's all the thanks I need."
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I’m not a dad, but I have one! I won’t be seeing him on Sunday but I just sent him an Edible Arrangements fruit thing. I sent him one last year and he really loved it. He sent me a pic of him with it, wearing a big smile. He’s 85, and I’d do anything for him. He always expects a smartass card, usually referring to my own excellence as a testimony to the good job he did.

I'll be brewing in the morning, while my wife does the grocery shopping. She'll go over to visit with my dad and give my mom a break and chance to attend church. And in the afternoon, I'll go over to visit with him. Hopefully, the Mets will do better against the Braves than they did tonight, and we'll watch a bit of that game.

Other than that, it's just another Sunday.
