ATM Skimmer
For anyone that has read about credit card skimmers, here is an interesting post. The video actually shows how the skimmer is attached. I have seen the older type version of this where the entire front of the ATM machine is a false overlay. Do the twist test if it seems hokey.
Re: ATM Skimmer
That's nuts. Amazing the lengths people go to to steal.

I hate those damn bastards that steal in this way (not that stealing in any way is a good thing).

Re: ATM Skimmer
These thieves should die a horrible death with me flipping the switch. Was given a $250 dollar Visa card given to me for 15 years with my company. It was skimmed while it was in my wallet. I now have a RFID blocking wallet. Live and learn, but I'd still like to throttle that SOB!!

About stealing. Remember it is about one monkey looking for his second banana after finishing the first, another monkey shrugging his shoulders and pointing to a third monkey. The first monkey bashes the third monkey's head in with a rock and the second monkey enjoyed the banana. That's stealing.Beer-lord wrote:I hate those damn bastards that steal in this way (not that stealing in any way is a good thing).

??? It was a Visa gift card.The_Professor wrote:Is that cheaper that striking your cards with a hammer?Inkleg wrote:....I now have a RFID blocking wallet....
Most of my transactions are cash. I've found that everyone seems to like small pieces of green paper with pictures of dead presidents on them. I'm the only person in the company that gets an actual pay check. Numerous bank tellers at different branches know me on sight.

Re: ATM Skimmer
Haven't tried it myself yet, but I have read about people smashing the RFID chip on the card with a hammer to disable it. I believe it was in reference to passports. Gottcha.
No, someone somewhere scanned the gift card while it was still in my wallet. When I went to finally use it there was less than $4.00 on it.

I may have to take out my hammer. I have a card for 25 years with the company that I may use to get some kegging equipment.Inkleg wrote:Gottcha.

Re: ATM Skimmer
Jeff, the company issuing the card for Visa should be able to back-track the transaction(s) to validate a case for re-imbursement since your signature or pin would not have been used.Inkleg wrote:Gottcha.

For those without RFID blocking wallets, check out http://www.signal-vault.com
I was given two as a gift and keep all my RFID cards in between them, in my wallet. They are the size of a credit card and block the reader from seeing the chip on the card.
I believe the reason I got two, aside from the fact that people love me , is that they are offering 4 for $27.95 and each wallet only needs two.
