How much do you use?

Yes BrewDemon and Mr. Beer kits are pretty darn easy but sometime you need a little help from the Borg to get you on the right track. Post your questions here!

How much do you use?

Post by RandyG »

Hey All, Got a quick question.I do batches using steeped grains. They are usually 2 1/2 gallon ones. For that size batch,I steep 1/2 lb. of the Crystal L something and 1/2 lb. Carapils. I don't recall ever reading what the proper amounts are for this sized batch. What amounts would/Do you use in this sized batch, and am I over-killing the grain bill? TIA

Well, do you like what you are making? That's all that really matters.

But, I'd probably only do 4oz instead of 8oz.

The answer to that is... it depends on what you are making.

IE a West coast IPA or English Mild are very different animals, with very different requirements in that regards.

The amounts you are using are not out of line for some types of beer - but they are out of line for that West Coast IPA for sure and other styles as well.

okay, for instance if I'm gonna do a regular Mr. Beer/ Brew Demon refill. Would 4 oz. of each be enough? I wouldn't want to over ride the hops that are in it.
