Emily, watching the women's marathon today made me wonder, how is your running going?

Thanks for asking! It's going. It's been hard to be consistent while we have been in transition, but we just moved into our new home last week and have gotten pretty well settled in, so I can get back into a routine with my running. I've been managing 25 miles per week the last month, so I should be able to start building that up gradually. I'm in nowhere near as good of shape as I was a couple years ago, but I've had a lot of life changes that have put running on the backburner. That will change soon, I hope. :)

Good luck. Hope you can get back into your routine soon. I think my long distance days are behind me now. I seem to injure myself whenever I go more than 5 or 6 miles on a regular basis, but I guess at age 62 that is not unusual. I am using an elliptical trainer at least 4 days per week and cycling 2 days per week for 30 miles each session. I may still try to get 1 more marathon or at least a half in the next year or so. Keep running while you are young. Getting old is not for the faint of heart.

It ain't for wimps that's for sure.

I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Okay this is an old thread and I think it is a no no to post to them but I get a pass here.

Welcome back brew sister, same here... well except for the job part. We just did the moving and staying in hotels part.
You fell off for getting married to an incredibly good looking guy. I fell off 'cause all my brew gear was in a box buried so deep in other boxes that I couldn't even see the brew gear box. That made me very sad.

At first I wondered why engineers made beer and then as I read more of the thread it seems like what you do is figure out how to move massive pieces of equipment to make room for more massive pieces of equipment. I think that is a pretty cool sounding job to have.

BTW we moved from Roanoke to Greenville to get away from the snow, they did tell you it snows there right? Like a lot. Just sayin'. :p

So as the only other specimen of "The Greatest Gender" on here, and you can see how miserable they got while we were gone, it is a no brainer that you and I will be best buddies for life right? How about sending me a couple of cases of those cute little steinie bottles Coors has out now? They don't need to have beer in them. :D

Oh and do you think it is safe to go on line and say that you go to OTHER breweries on your days off? Just lookin' out for ya there girlfriend. ;)

Brewbirds! Thanks so much for the response to my sorta old post! :D

As we speak, I am currently in Elkton, VA at our Shenandoah brewery, kicking off a project to put Blue Moon in aluminum pints. Moving massive pieces of equipment will likely be involved, as well as designing new massive pieces of equipment. It's wicked cool stuff.

You all should see the size of the lauter tuns here! I think they may be some of the largest diameter ones in the world.

Anyway, I digress... Brewbirds, I think it's safe to say, as the only two gals left here, we must be best friends. And I can probably hook you up with some of those steinie bottles. ;)

I'm glad we both found our way back here. And I hope you've unpacked your brew gear now and can get back to makin' beer. :clink:
