Recipe Collaboration Exchange - Fall/Winter 2016

Post by FedoraDave »

Time for another Recipe Collaboration Exchange! Those of you who are familiar with the concept, just skip this and sign up, and don't forget to indicate your level (and if you'd be interested/willing to work at any other level). For those not in the know, here's how it works:

You sign up by replying to this thread, and after the deadline, I pair up brewers and those two brewers communicate via email/PMs, or whatever works, and formulate a recipe together, which you both brew independently. That's pretty much it. There's no deadline on the final recipe. You don't have to brew it simultaneously, unless you want to. You don't even have to send each other bottles of your beer, unless you want to. It's just a way to get to know another Borg member a little better, work on a recipe together, maybe explore a style or a technique you haven't used before, or as an introduction to a new level, if you've wanted to try steeping grains, or making a lager, or whatever. It's wide open, and it's up to you and your partner. Here are the four levels for classification:

LEVEL 1: Only brewed with HME kits, such as Mr. Beer or BrewDemon.

LEVEL 2: Brewed with extract and steeping grains/hop additions.

LEVEL 3: Brewed with Partial Mash

LEVEL 4: Brewed All Grain

Again, don't forget to include your level when you sign up, and if any of the higher level brewers are agreeable to working at another level to help out a fellow Borgite, that would be appreciated.

And if a moderator could make this a universal sticky in all the forums, for the best exposure, I'd consider it a mitzvah.

Close-out and pairing announcement will be made on September 17th (or 18th, depending on how I feel).

I'm in level 4. I will work with any level
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I have had a great time in these collaborations, and have come up with some award winners, but unfortunately my schedule now would be too tight to commit to another. From work, I have more frequent flier and hotel points in the past year than ever before. I really encourage anyone new to participate in these, since they are a great way to learn and practice new things. Best of luck to everyone who is able to participate!

I'm in, lvl 4. I'm able to brew for a few weeks, then I'm probably tied up until freeze-up or there abouts when harvest and hunting season is finished. I just picked up a truck load of grains/hops/yeast from our local LHBS that is now closing it's doors. :-( I've not gotten far off the beatin path as far as my grist, not into real fancy brews, yet.

Okay, I am in for this one.

I am level 4. I would be very interested to work with any level on an agreed upon brew.

Time's up! If you haven't bought in by now, you're not in. I'm going to assign partners and make an announcement post in a few minutes.

Thanks to all who participated.
