The Legend-Charlie Papazian

Post by Beer-lord »

Here's a long but enjoyable video of the great Charlie P. at Homebrew Con this year.
His book was the first book I bought in the mid 80's well after I had a few years of brewing under my belt (see Beer-lord, The Early Years, a Retrospective) :jumpy:
Nothing earth shattering here, just an historic perspective that I found interesting since many of the names he mentioned are no longer with us.

We just went to a huge book sale here in Greenville a few weeks ago and I picked up a copy of "The New Complete JOY of Homebrewing" in the cookbook section along with a couple of other brew related titles.

Alas he had to go in a box with my other cook/brewing books until the house becomes normal and unboxed.

Looking forward to reading it and searching the fund raising book sales for more brewing related treasures.

When I attended the AHA Conference in Philadelphia three years ago, I not only saw Charlie give a short kick-off speech, but I actually came face-to-face with him on the floor later that evening. I turned around, and there he was! So we fist-bumped, and I said to him, "You must find all of this extremely gratifying." He replied, "It's more than gratifying, it's ...." words failed him for a second, and then he shook his head and said, almost to himself, "It's amazing."
