I could quibble that the brewery is actually in Franklin, TN (a suburb of Nashville), but I guess the restaurant they are speaking of is in Nashville, so I'll give them a pass...NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE
The beer: Mantra Brewing Saffron IPA
“You can find this IPA across Tennessee, but it’s best at Chauhan Ale & Masala House,” says Beaumont, about the place where the beer’s saffron and cardamom notes pair perfectly with chef Maneet Chauhan’s dishes like tandoori chicken poutine and Nashville hot chicken pakoras. No wonder: Chauhan’s also one of the founders of Mantra Brewing.

Pretty cool when the brewery within walking distance of your house gets a shoutout in Conde Nast as one of the "8 Rare Beers Around the World to Drink This Fall." This is the brewery that made a beer as a fundraiser for my friend who recently passed away from cancer, and also where I did the recent blending session I chronicled in another thread. Great to see that they are getting some national attention, as well as getting a writeup in the new edition of the World Atlas of Beer.

That's pretty neat. I doubt Defiant will ever get such a write-up; it's pretty small. But Captain Lawrence, which is right across the Mighty Hudson River, is getting good distribution and quite a bit of notice, it seems.

I think it's amazing that Swenocha is reading Conde Nast. Clearly he is more sophisticated than many of us assumed. We knew he was more sophisticated that some (I won't point out who we knew that to be), but this is clearly bar-raising. Maybe he drinks his beer with his pinky raised too?

Mantra is only a 15-barrel brewhouse, so they are pretty tiny as things go, though not a nanobrewery (3 barrel system) by any stretch. They are looking to expand soon though. Having a young and highly regarded brewer will get you a long way, but being co-owned by a Food Network celebrity chef really helps in terms of exposure for your product, me thinks...FedoraDave wrote:That's pretty neat. They certainly aren't as small as this nano...
