I'm not one for rumors but...

Post by LouieMacGoo »

... I think this is pretty credible. As I mentioned in the tread about Stone's layoffs I had an interesting conversation with a brewery owner and we talked about a few different and interesting things and one of them was that the owner of Adventures in Homebrewing here in Michigan is making a move to the warmer weather of Texas. Austin Tx to be exact and he is in the process of buying Austin Homebrewing Supply.

I know this doesn't have the same impact as AB Inbev buying Northern Brewer/Midwest Supplies, but I think this might be a good move to strengthen both Austin and AIH.

That's the problem with rumors, sometimes they are already true and sometimes they are not true at all. Well, that's a couple of problems with rumors, sometimes they are already true, sometimes they are not true at all, and sometimes they have a grain of truth to them. Amongst the problems with rumors.....damn, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.....

When i lived in Austin (many years ago), Austin homebrew was the first place I bought supplies for the first time I brewed. It was a little tiny place and I could walk to it from my house. Now that I look back, that beer was horrible and I can't believe that I came back to brewing. My room mate and I did drink it all, but there were repercussions if ya know what I mean.

I think I know the little building you're talking about where they used to be. It was tiny and super crowded. In the Hyde park area, like between 38th and 51st streets, if I recall. It feels like a lifetime ago now. They've come a long way. I got my earliest ingredients and supplies from them and from Wheatsville Co-op back then.
