Re: Red Placenta IPA
Consensus after adding keg hops is that everyone liked it. Sadly, I don't but there's still time. No metallic flavors but I get a mish-mosh of hop flavors that I don't find complimentary. I only have a small amount left so it'll get emptied soon.

More reading (because I just can't let some things go) is that Calcium (Ca+2) and magnesium (Mg+2) in large amounts will produce a metallic flavor so maybe my comment in my original post of having too low ph and making adjustments caused this problem. I'm going with this assumption.
Bottom line, it's almost gone!

But don't you think that would have reared its head sooner? Or do you think that as the hops fade it became more pronounced?
I didn't think you had that beer around for long enough for the hops to fade, though.

Re: Red Placenta IPA
I did think about that but maybe because it was so fresh, the hops were really popping and it likely covered any slight off flavors.
I even wondered if using so much Red X might be the cause but lots of people seem to go 100% with this malt and don't mention any problems.

Yeah, the amber I sent out used 100% Red X and I didn't pick up on that. Nor did any of you that drank it.
