On the run

Post by Beer-lord »

Kicked 2 kegs today and only have 1 ready to keg next weekend (if it's ok, it was ice for a day so who knows). Gonna get cold for us here next week so I hope to get a quikee in next Friday. Might do a 14 day turn around Pale Ale. Still got some hops that are nearing their old age so I might just get rid of them.
I miss brewing every 3 weeks but football season has hit the pipeline.
We don't really have a winter but that doesn't mean 45 degrees isn't cold!

I'm hoping my pipeline stays healthy through the holidays. The keg of Copperbottom Lager kicked it last night, and I'm about halfway through the keg of Crown Top Pale Ale. I have some bottles conditioning, too.

Ha Ha, that was a shyte of a game for us but don't go bragging just because you beat a bad team. Glad you enjoyed it.
One keg kicked before the game started. But it's a good excuse to get an unplanned brew day in nonetheless.

After finishing the keg of Rye PA a couple of weeks ago, I put on the keg of quick pale (named Bug Juice) next to the remaining pumpkin ale. Nothing fermenting, no full kegs standing by. So last week I brewed 8 gallons of Belgian Pale and an Amber Lager. Whew, dodged a bullet! :)
By the way, it's getting cold here too!

Not gonna have time to do a beer Friday and with the very breezy conditions, that's not ideal so I'll have to regroup and try the following week. I see a Christmas eve-eve brew coming on for the 23rd. Maybe a double batch of something since I don't have much time and it's cold. Might as well make twice as much and freeze once instead of brewing twice and freezing twice. I can easily do different yeasts do give them some type of distance from each other.

If you like Belgians, I've made a Belgian Pale and a Dubbel from the same wort. I added candi syrup to the dubbel, dry hops to the pale.

You can do that with a triple too. Or a single (patersbier) / trippel.

If you wanted to be creative, you could boil some extra hops in a bit of DME and water, then take your main batch of APA and put half in one fermenter, then dump in the extra boil and then ferment that new blend as an "IPA", adding some dry hops. I'm sure it would work and it would give you a bit of extra volume - so more beer. More beer is always good.

I still have a good deal of 'stock' to deplete so I'm just going to use up as much of my supply as possible but these are good ideas.

The 2 kegs of No Name IPA kicked last week and there's less than a gallon left of my Rebound Brown Ale then both of those kegs are gone too. I have another batch of No Name IPA ready to keg next weekend and plan to brew another 10 gallons of Rebound Brown Ale the following week. My daughter's wedding is in June next year and I will begin brewing for that beginning in early April. I plan to brew a Kolsch, a Belgian Witbier and an IPA to supply the wedding party for 3 days. Somehow I feel like 180 bottles of beer won't be enough, but it will be a good start.
