Most of you know I try to brew every Sunday. And I had planned on brewing a batch of Maltsperiment/Pilsner last Sunday. But it was not to be.
My mom had a really bad cough that she couldn't shake, and she finally asked to be taken to Emergency Care. My son had that day off, so he took her. Turned out the cough wasn't the worst of it. She had an elevated heart rate; somewhere around 157. So they took her to the hospital to stabilize her. She also had bronchitis, which explains the cough. She spent a week in the hospital, and was released last Saturday evening. I went to get her and stayed at her house overnight, since my wife's cold returned with a vengeance, and we didn't want to risk it. If Mom needed help with any intimate issues, like going to bathroom, I could text my sister-in-law, who lives close by, but wasn't available for anything other than emergencies.
So I stayed overnight at Mom's, and spent the morning fixing her breakfast and chatting. She was glad to be home, and especially glad to take a shower and wash her hair! But my Sunday routine had been uprooted, and I was dog tired by the time I got home. So I didn't brew that day. It was worth it, and I'm glad my mom is out of the hospital and feeling better. The beer can wait.

Glad to hear your Mom is feeling better Dave!

I'm glad your mom is okay too.
I had to cancel driving my mom to the doctor yesterday because of my severe cold (flu?). Can't risk infecting old folks. My niece's fiance filled in as chauffeur.

Yeah, I forgot to mention the elevated heart rate was because she's developed A-Fib. So they put her on a whole new regimen of meds (she was already taking a bunch of pills for various things, but they've changed all her scrips now). The bronchitis is pretty much under control. She was glad to be home, and she's doing quite well now. I'm glad this didn't happen when she was still taking care of my dad during his final days.

Mom is more important than beer. Glad she is feeling better

Dave, happy your Mom is doing better, I know exactly where you are coming from on this. Family and life always comes before beer. We can make beer anytime but only have so much time to be able to spend with our parents.
