On Turning 55

Post by John Sand »

I turned 55 this week. (I know I look much younger, I tell myself every day!) My age really isn't important, I never cared about getting older. What is important is that so many friends and family reached out. Tonight all of my children, with their partners, my nieces and nephew, and two of my brothers all came over for dinner. They brought warm cards, smiles and hugs. (Rum and beer too!) It makes me very happy, and they all get along so well. None of my kids are actually blood relatives, which makes their affection a really special gift.

I'm always happy to grow older. My Pop used to say that it's better than the alternative. But really, I accept it. I dent a bit easier than I used to, but I'm still pretty capable. And as I get less, I use accessories: reading glasses, knee braces, naps etc. :)

Happy Birthday
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Thanks again!
Wham, age may be mental, cause I'm a little more forgetful. But it is definitely physical too, as my eyes, ears, joints, digestion.........

LOL, yea, it sux to get old, but it beats the alternative! Be proud of the gray hairs, only took a life time to earn them. :party:
