Re: Latest Ss Brewtech purchases
I put my Thermowell almost at the same place but do they offer one thru the lid? I thought you had wanted that.
My only small complaint is when its full, pulling it out of the keezer takes some muscle and I'm already old but in a few years, that might be extra hard. But it's so easy to clean, so lightweight, the perfect size and yada, yada, yada, I love mine.

No lid option, the Thermowell is where you see it in the picture. I made a larger hole in the lid of the 3.5G one I bought a while ago to take my lager stopper with the Thermowell in it.
This one requires no modification which I'm stoked anout.

Re: Latest Ss Brewtech purchases
Bringing this one back to life a bit. Ron, now that you've had this for a while, what do you think? I'm considering the Brewmaster Bucket. I guess my biggest question for anyone that has one is...how easy is it to move? I will need to move it full of wort a short distance to my fermantaion fridge. Then, when it's time to keg, I'll need to lift it up onto a work table about 4 feet high. I am guessing the racking arm is above the compacted trub so you're able to hook up a hose to that and drain into the keg correct? Any other insight or comments (good or bad) would be much appreciated.

Re: Latest Ss Brewtech purchases
Chris, I have that one (without the thermometer as I added my own thermowell). I love it. At my advanced age, I can say, move a full 6 gallons in and out of my keezer and up on the counter isn't easy but I do it. I do with the handles were coated as it would make it easier on the hands but I'm being picky.
As I've mentioned before, I never use the racking arm because I always seem to have a ton of trub so I use my autosiphon but many don't have that problem (maybe it's all the healthy yeast starters I use) but I have no problem at all recommending this. I use this almost all the time except when I brew a beer while this is in use. It cleans very easy, its light but made very well and I think I've brewed about 18 beers in it by now.

Buy it. I have to lift mine out of a chest freezer on the floor and carry it about 20 feet, then lift it up onto my kitchen counter.
And, I am able to use the racking arm without issue. It works so much faster than a siphon and even with my last batch that had 10oz of hops I was able to use without issue.
Paul, fly me out there and we'll do a batch together so I can see why you can't use yours!

My wings are big enough to carry you here Ron. I've not even tried to use it the last 6-8 times so maybe I'll revisit next brew day. Either way, it's not a biggie to me and I love this unit.
Plus I got mine for $175 and free freight when it was in Kickstarter.

We know what you'll be doing this weekend! Got a brew planned for it.
I almost guarantee you'll like it. If not, send it to me.

You can't handle that dangerous hunk of metal.
Send it to me for proper disposal.

It's hard to beat the beauty of a SS fermenter but that little cutie sure did! And it looks like she's very smart too.......quality control supervisor.

Re: Latest Ss Brewtech purchases
Ok, for all you fellas that have one of these fermenters. The instructions for the ball valve clearly state that you need to just hand tighten the nut. I've got it set up correctly with one o ring on the outside and one o ring on the inside. I put a little bit of keg lube on both o rings.
Here's my issue, with it just had tightened, it creates a seal just fine, but the entire ball valve assembly is still loose if you wiggle it. And if you wiggle it, then a few drops of liquid will leak out. If I tighten any tighter (still by hand) then the o ring on the inside between the nut and the fermenter body starts to spread out. And I'm not real sure if that's a good thing or not.
Can you guys help a bit with an explanation on how yours is set up? How tight, can you still wiggle it, if so, will it leak a few drops, etc etc etc etc.

Re: Latest Ss Brewtech purchases
I hardly remove mine except to clean every 5 or so batches but I've never had this problem. Mine is hand tightened just a tad more than I think they suggested. You have the rings on correct but I don't recall if they suggested lube or not (I don't think they did when I got mine).
To clarify, the arm is supposed to be loose inside so you can move it down while fermenting and turn it up when and if you use it to keg. I've never seen a drop of water or beer come out of mine.
