How do you do that? I've been trying to do that for 15 years! Even going to the gym 3 times a week doesn't help. I fear the only way is to stop drinking beer and that's just not an option.ScrewyBrewer wrote:The route down is mapped out and I will be bottling some beers for the road trip to Asheville, the excitement continues to build. Re: 2017 Borg meet up in Asheville NC
As the date gets closer I am becoming more bummed out that I won't be able to be there with you all. Last year was such a great time with great food, great beer and great company, it was like a mini beer festival. I am really looking forward to hearing all the stories from this year and also hearing Vince's take on the weekend since this will be your first time meeting all these clowns um, brewers.
I wish you all safe travels and at least as much fun and good times as we had last year.

It goes by so fast! Can't believe it's almost been a year already. Steve's brisket is killer! I'm hoping to bring boudin again this year. We could go without food and beer and still have a ball but why do that?
With all the laughing that goes on, it's hard to keep a full stomach anyway.
And, Leigh, you and Gary will be missed too!

No doubt Leigh, we're bummed too! Besides, who's going to make the omelets on get out day?

Were going to have to talk when we get closer to that date. That is my birthday weekend so we might have to get creative with our agenda. Also maybe you can bring me back some brew from the other Borgies there in Asheville.Dawg LB Steve wrote:Guess that became your job since you just volunteered!!!!!RedBEERd wrote:No doubt Leigh, we're bummed too! Hey all, I'm drinking my second to last bottle of my lacto soured Scottish Caveman style Heather Ale (it's a Gruit/Braggot - no hops, just heather and honey and malted barley, and a bit of oak smoked wheat).
It got soured by lacto from the honey, because I added the raw honey at 170, but 170 for isn't hot enough to kill off the lacto, just everything else.
Trying to decide if I want to drink the last of it, or bring or send it to Ashville (still unsure if I can go or not, but I will try to hook up with Steve and give him some stuff to take with him if I can't go). How many people going to Ashville like sours? First smell and sip of this is like "Eh? WTF?" but then suddenly you decide it's good and want more. At least if you like sours. Or at least if you are me. Who knows if you are not LOL.
I've already got a couple of 1L bottles of the Holy Roman Empire Abbey style Gruit (abbot and monk version) and a 1L bottle of the Japanese Plum Saison I made socked away for you all. Because they are all things you have never had for sure and they are all good. But the plum saison (at least last one I had) will wreck your palette if you try to taste anything else side by side with it, just warning you. As in eat some crackers or something before you try anything else.
Although I like both, I like the "monk" Gruit better then the Abbot one. it has a lot of oats % wise, and that seems to play against the herbs really nicely. As in it doesn't seem "herby" really. Where you will notice the herbs a bit more in the Abbot version.
I see no reason to send or bring APA/IPA beers, you'll all have plenty of those.

I hadn't weighed in for sometime, looks like I lost 8 pounds somewhere. For me My Fitness Pal works pretty good. Just set your weight goal, it tracks the calories per day you need to eat, to loss the weight.Beer-lord wrote:How do you do that? I've been trying to do that for 15 years! Beers are about 200 calories and I still drink them, but not as many, or as often.

I hope both of you guys are just lying and setting us up. We'll find you asleep in your car outside of Wicked Weed Brewing, all hopped up on hops.

Hello all Asheville bound folks. I'm going to upgrade and get a JaDeD Hydra. I have one of their 3/8 50 footers that I'll let go for $55 to help off set the cost. Just let me know and I'll bring it along.
To non Asheville Borg members. Price is the same, you pay shipping.

You're gonna love the Hydra!
So, I'm good too and that won't fit in my suitcase anyway.
