Williams Brewing Mash and Boil System $299

I saw this on Homebrew Finds and it's basically a eBIAB system for $300. It has a limited capacity of only 7.5 gallons but it claims you can make 5 gal batches with up to 16 lbs of grain. It also has electronic temp control for your mash and boil as well as a sparging basket to pull your grain after the mash. It might not be for everyone but this might be a good price point for someone looking to get into all grain brewing. Also it might be a good option for brewing small batches or brewing inside when weather isn't cooperating (Too hot or too cold) :freeze:

If that could hold lower temperatures at 90-110 for a few days, that would be great for making Berliner Weiss style beers.

Thanks for the info. I am likely moving to all grain this year, and currently looking at all the different equipment options, so this is interesting.

This is a pretty neat rig. Not for me, as I have all the equipment I currently need, and just spend my money on ingredients and the odd 10-pack of hop sacks.

But thanks for keeping everyone updated on the new offerings.

It unfortunately can't do that, as it turns itself off after 3.5 or 4 hours or something (it's in the FAQ somewhere).

But that's not the only way (nor original way) to make a Berliner, so it's not something I would worry about. That only matters if your using a finicky lacto strain and are planning on killing it later after you kettle sour to some level you want. Me, I'd just pitch a mixed yeast/lacto culture and let it go naturally and not bother killing the lacto. Probiotics are good.

This piece of equipment has my interest. I biab and partial, I have never done a AG. Not thinking I cant after being on these forums all these years but didn't want to spent the time or money to do it, but now that I am retired I was going to buy or put together a mash tun. But this looks like a good way to go............What you guys think?

I think once I have the money I'm going for it.

It's not going to get to a boil as fast as a big propane burner obviously, but I don't care as long as I can walk away and ignore it.

It doesn't recirculate the mash like some fancier ones, but no reason you can't draw a bunch from the spigot and pour it back into the top a few times during the mash, which will do fine I think. I bet that you could do it just by hooking some tubing to the spigot and letting it run off gravity. No way the force of all the mash liquid isn't enough to push it up a few feet through some tubing I'd think, at least if I was to use it more like BIAB for a 3 gallon batch (full water volume instead of thick mash and sparge). No pumps to fail if that would work. I don't see why it wouldn't. That would heat and boil faster too then a full 5 gallon batch.

They say they have had one running in their shop for 2 years and the heating element hasn't failed. (you can't replace the heater, so that's kind of important)

Looks like a great deal and a lot like some of the ones I've seen on youtube videos by the British youtubers but until it gets too hard for me to do what I'm doing now, I just can't see me switching. I love the 'old' process (though I BIAB) and would love a true EBIAB but just can't justify the money as I don't feel it would make my beer any better.
So, as age hits me, I will have to reevaluate this.
But, I'd love to hear opinions of anyone who gets this.
