Just curious

Post by RandyG »

Hey Gang, I was curious to find out how old everyone was and how many years you have been homebrewing. I'm 66 yrs old and got my 1st Mr. Beer kit for X-mas 1995. Been brewing off and on since then, although I did take a 8 yr self-induced prohibition(quit drinking),but now I'm back at it.Not taking a poll or anything, but was just wondering. Cheers.

I'm 58. I also got started with a Christmas Mr. Beer kit, seven years ago, to my best recollection.

A young 58 :) and started brewing in college though I stopped to have a kid, a life etc. before brewing again about 2009.
I wish I had all the great ingredients and info while in college that we have access to now. Those were trying times with little success.

44 years for me. I've been brewing for about 5 or 6, I think. Wow, my memory is already starting to fade.

Age-wise, I'm right in the pack at 55. I also started with MrBeer, receiving it for Christmas 2012. I brewed my first batch in January 2013 and my 59th yesterday.

I'm 53 and started brewing in 2015. Had always wanted to try it before as I had seen the Mr. Beer kits in stores and the 1G & 5G starter kits in homebrew catalogs, but never did it until my youngest daughter bought me a all grain 1G recipe kit for Christmas.

53 for me.

Just like everyone else, I started with a MB kit about 4 years ago. Moved to 5 gal Brewers Best kits after a few batches of MB.

I'm going to do a few BD refills as I get back into the swing of things. BD Hellfire Red Ale is arriving tomorrow!

Sure is a bunch of old farts in this forum.
But I think it's great that we all have a passion for this hobby which has only grown as we've grown old.

Just turned 50.

I started brewing going on something like 25 years ago, back then nothing but AG and 5 gallon batches as well as some wine and mead, but with a 10 year hiatus due to many factors including a "glass carboy exploding in my closet" incident... Then post hiatus switching to small batch fermenters (Mr. Beer LBCs) and kits to get back into it and then moving back to a mix of AG, PM, and extract beers, whatever I can do with the time I have available as long as it makes good beer.
