Re: The No Post Post
Got a busy week ahead, tonite we are doing the SMaSH beer hop tasting at the local homebrew club meeting, have aprox. 14-16 different hops. Have to play musical chairs with kegs, I pulled cornies from the keezer and the kegerator, I had to pull the 1/2 bbl Pils when I ran out of room to carbonate the SMaSH. So now that the weather has gotten above freezing I can put the 1/2 and 2) 1/4 bbls (bought sanke kegs to use for this now) I brewed for the Browns Backers event in Michigan this weekend in the garage without worry of it freezing. Get car loaded up Thursday morning and head up north drop the beer off at the venue and head over to Windsor for the day now that we have passports, hope to meet up with Leigh Friday or Saturday, check out some local breweries in the Detroit, Plymouth, Ann Arbor area. The event is Saturday evening and head back home Sunday afternoon. PHEW!

Re: The No Post Post
Will try to get some pics up later, Thursday went over to Windsor, Ontario visited Walkerville Brewery, really solid beer lineup. Got to talking to one of the brewers who said grab a glass and lets go, Donna and I got a private tour and grabbed a glass of a cask beer they were going to be serving Friday. On Friday we got together with Leigh and went brewery hopping for his Birthday, he picked out 5 great stops for us Dragonmead, Kuhnhenn's, Bastone, Royal Oak and finished out at Liberty Street to top the day off with the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Stout (HOLY YUMM) that he and his Homebrew Club had on tap. SouthEast Michigan has kind of reminded me of Asheville as far as great small breweries and brewpubs and the abundance in the area of a few square miles.

I love multi-tasking and having a lot of different jobs going on at once and that is what kept my job interesting for over 30 years. Now that I retired I tend to do the same thing but lately I think I overbooked. I did the living room floor and moldings, did some work in my basement bar/brew room including 2 new 20 amp circuits, have been uncovering my strawberry field on warm days, and figuring out my new brewing equipment. Now my Skid Steer loader lost power to the dash and I have to trouble shoot that one of these days....... BUT today I'm going to bottle a IPA that I brewed way to long ago and is still in the primary that had been dry hopped for over 3 weeks..... and then make a batch of pickled eggs.

Re: The No Post Post
March's homebrew club meeting was SMaSH beers, there were about 20 of the not so main stream hops. By the time someone finally came up with the recipe to follow, it didn't leave much time for everyone to properly ferment these. Needless to say there were some Diacetyl bombs, but overall it was neat to taste the different flavors the hops imparted individually. Last night meeting it was announce that for the July meeting we are putting together a grain bill w/hop schedule and each will use a different yeast. This can get very interesting, we have guys that are big Belgian, English, Funk and Sour fans, this will be fun to taste how the yeast can change the exact same wort!

Re: The No Post Post
No clue. I put sanitizer in, and sanitizer came pouring out. Unscrewed spigot and found that. Luckily I had not finished brewing beyond a PM, or I'd have not had room for all I was planning.bpgreen wrote:What happened?mashani wrote:DOH! (good thing I have had 2 of them)
Re: The No Post Post
Contact BrewDemon as they might replace it, I had one that cracked below the spigot and leaked, although not as bad as that. I emailed them asking what to use to reseal it, they sent me a new fermenter & spigot. The newer ones are now a thicker plastic and use a black spigot also. Their customer support is great, as I really wasn't expecting them to replace it.

The thing was 2+ years old I think (one of the first ones they made I bet), so I'm not going to ask them to replace it. Plastic things do eventually wear out.
Re: The No Post Post
Yes, this is true. Which is why I was so surprised when they offered to to replace mine.
