Cheaper than SS Brewing buckets though I like the conical bottom of those.

That's a good price. I like the conical bottom of the SS Brewtech also. The Anvil does have a "coned" bottom, but it's not as deep as the SS Brewtech.

Yes that is a good deal and close to 1/2 the price of the Ss Brewbucket, I agree I like the deeper conical of the Brewbucket.

Re: Upping the game!
If one of my "Mini Coopers" explodes, I might consider a 4 gallon one of these.
The "Mini Coopers" have a more rounded bottom vs. a cone, and using both them and LBC's (with cone) side by side, I've not really noticed any difference in what comes out of them.
I think the conical is mostly of use if you are going to do a yeast/trub dump out the bottom, IE it has a valve down there.

Re: Upping the game!
I'm personally sold on SS fermenters. I still use plastic now and again but these are so easy to clean, light enough to move around and leave no residual odor (not that I really think that's ever a problem).
They'll also last longer than I'll be brewing.

Re: Upping the game!
BL or BD do you use a air lock or blow off tube? I've only been using a blow off on mine as per the directions. I see the Anvil using a air lock and is included.Beer-lord wrote:I'm personally sold on SS fermenters.

Re: Upping the game!
I brew 6 gallons so I almost always start with a blow off tube then switch to airlock after fermentation slows.
Anvils top actually has more room than SS Brewtech does but I can't say whether that would make any difference as a 6 gallon brewer.

I normally only use an airlock on mine. But if I'm running a high gravity gravity recipe, I'll start with a blow off then replace with an airlock after the primary slows down.

I use a blowoff for the first few days on my 7G SS, as well. Then switch to an airlock.Beer-lord wrote:I brew 6 gallons so I almost always start with a blow off tube then switch to airlock after fermentation slows.

Re: Upping the game!
Well I just tried for the first time on mine instead of the blow off a 3 piece air lock and so far so good. This is only a 1.060 5 gal beer but with 2 packs of 05 but fermenting cold and I see no problem, there is a lot of head space with 5 gal on these anyways.Kealia wrote: I use a blowoff for the first few days on my 7G SS, as well.
