Naked Cat Brewery On Tap
Re: What are you drinking?
Hey all, 1st pour of my last 2 B/D past good date batches. The IPA and the WCPA. Both had some steeping grains and Saf-05 yeast. Both were ok,nuttin special, but for about $10 a case,ya just can't beat it. Gonna try and brew 2 SMASH batches before the end of the year. Cheers.
Re: What are you drinking?
I've brewed quite a few ok, nuttin special beers myself. Like yours they drank just fine.

Re: What are you drinking?
Yesterday I came across this in my local Nob Hill and it caught my attention. It is a single-hop pale ale using Nelson Sauvin and it's from a New Zeland brewery! This was me -->
I poured it into the stemware shown and quickly took a whiff. Nada. Ok, I can live with that since it's a pale ale and not an IPA. I took a sip and......malty. And not a malt I like, either. At first I couldn't put a finger on what I didn't like and I thought it might be "too English" for my liking, but then I went to the brewery's site and poked around a bit. I think it is Vienna that I don't like. It dominated the flavor and the hops didn't come through at all. I've always found NS to be subtle and I think they just got overpowered in this beer.
I tried to like it. Really, I did. But I just couldn't. Some people don't like Citra, some are sensitive to other ingredients and I've discovered that I don't like Vienna in large quantities. Obviously, I don't know how much they used, but it was too much for me. Maybe somebody else that likes Vienna could have picked out the NS, but not for me. I pawned it off on my in-laws and made them swear to return the bottle to me because I really dig the bottles. They have dragon scales on them (and a ridge up one side) so I will re-use them for something soon. I think I may make an amber using Red-X malt (thanks for the reminder about this malt, Beer-lord) and some NS hops and call it Dragon's Blood - just so I can use these bottles for some of it.
Nob Hill had two other beers from them in stock, too. Their other APA and their Pilsner - which typically isn't my favorite style but it sounds tasty.
I just sent the brewery a note to ask them about how to read the bottling dates on the bottles so I can check and see how fresh they are before I make a decision.

Re: What are you drinking?
I'm drinking the English ESB/IPA like beer that I used American IPA levels of Strata hops in.
Aroma is dank and tropical. Flavor is potent, and it tastes like someone took a giant reefer (Cheech and Chong variety) dipped it in grapefruit juice, and stuffed that in a papaya, and somehow managed to smoke that whole package.
I like it. This is a good stand alone hop, if you like dank dopey mixed with tropical hops.
No dope for you? Run away.
Me, I'll buy more of this stuff.

Re: What are you drinking?
Have never read a description like that before but I can taste it. You should write a beer book!

Re: What are you drinking?
My daughter is home for Christmas and brought me a 6pk of these Incarnation IPA from 4 hands brewery in St. Louis. Tastes pretty good. From their website "Rise up and tantalize your taste buds with the Mosaic hopped IPA! Incarnation pours amber in color with a firm off white head. Look for loads of tropical flavors in this medium bodied IPA. Aromas of passion fruit, pineapple and candied fruit dominate."
