How much have you brewed in 2018?

Post by swenocha »

Thread guidance: create one (and only one) post and continuously edit it throughout the year, adding your ongoing brewing adventures. Generally people add the date, style of beer, size of batch, and any other stats or info you would like to keep, along with a running total at the end of the thread. That's about it...

After a measly 8.5 gallons of beer brewed last year, along with one gallon of cider that's still in the fermenter 8 months later, I needs to pick it up this year...

2010: 77.5 gallons on 33 brews
2011: 54 gallons on 21 brews
2012: 38.5 gallons on 15 brews
2013: 22.5 gallons on 9 brews
2014: 24.5 gallons on 9 brews
2015: 18.5 gallons on 8 brews
2016: 9.5 gallons on 4 brews

Image

EDIT 3/11: Hot damn I'm brewing! 6 whole gallons! First time this year only almost 1/4 of the way into the year... but that puts me 2/3 of the way to matching last year! sigh...

3/11: #107: German Lager (German Lager recipe - Bootleg Biology S. arlingtonesis yeast version) - 3 gal - Ferment 3/11; bottle 4/20
3/11: #108: Abbey Ale (German Lager recipe - Southyeast HS2 Abbey Ale yeast version) - 3 gal - Ferment 3/11; bottle 4/20
6/28: #109: Coffee Porter (fermented with Bootleg Biology Brulosophy at 50 degrees) - 3 gal - Ferment 6/28

Total: 9 gallon

Well, I started yesterday, 5 gallons of Irish Red. I think I brewed about 60 last year.
The Red is ready to go on tap, and I brewed 5 gallons of pilsner on the 24th. That is happily bubbling at 57 degrees on the basement floor.

And I brewed about 60 again this year.

After brewing large batches (7 barrels) elsewhere in 2017, I finally brewed for the first time in a year. Not exciting, it was a can of Mr. Beer's Long Play IPA that I picked up for $5 on my way back from South Carolina due to Swenocha's tip on the Mr. Beer forum. Unfortunately, that was all they had (with a fermenter too, although this one had a broken lid). He said his store had 40, SWMBO laughed when I said I thought I could fit 40 in the back of my truck...

4/20 - brewed up two cans of Mr. Beer Bavarian Wiessenbier with some added LME and cardamom, adding canned apricots after 2 weeks, for an Apricot Wheat that my wife likes. These were bought 2 years back for $6 a can from Target, and I've had them in the frig. Dated a year ago, but they are good for 2 years after.

Brewed two 2.5 gallon BIAB batches in the Spring. This Fall, I started brewing on September 14th because my oldest is getting married in early December. Been brewing ever since, so my total is:

3 x 2.13 gallons
6 x 2.5 gallons
==========
21.39 gallons as of 9/26. At least 2 more batches on deck, perhaps 3, to prepare for the wedding (held at a brewery, my beer will be for at home).

Your post is a violation of the rules....

There is only a limit if you brewed it at home, which I didn't. Brewed on a 7 barrel system.
