How much did you drink in 2017?
We have threads for "How much did you brew in 2017?" and "How much (will) you brew in 2018?"....but we all give beer away, too. Well, at least SOME beer, right?
Since nobody tracks exactly how much they rink (RIGHT?!?!?), estimate how much you drank in 2017.
Again, for fun. It's not a competition or meant to judge anybody. Although I will say that anybody that drinks less than me isn't pulling their weight and anybody that drinks more than me has a problem
On average I drink 4-5 beers a week and a combination of homebrew (16oz pours) and commercial (12oz pours).
So I'm going to average 4.5 beers @ 14 ounces per week or 63 ounces per week.
63 ounces * 52 weeks = 3,276 ounces of beer annually.
That's 25.6 gallons of beer! *hic*
Looking back at how much I brewed last year (49 gallons), that means I gave away 23.4 gallons.

This puts me in mind of the George Carlin observation that anyone who drives faster than you is a maniac and anyone who drives slower than you is a moron.Kealia wrote:Again, for fun. Anyway, I brewed 168 gallons last year, and probably drank about 140 gallons. I give some away, I lose some, unfortunately, and there were a couple of competitions in there, as well. But I can easily drink around four beers every day. That might not be good for me (it's certainly not good for my waistline), but there it is.

So you'd be in for around 182 gallons imbibed if we assume 4/day @ 16oz each.FedoraDave wrote:But I can easily drink around four beers every day. That might not be good for me (it's certainly not good for my waistline), but there it is.

Perhaps, but that's only an estimate. And not all of it was home-brew.

That's all we can do (estimate). And all beers count....we don't discriminate here.
Re: How much did you drink in 2017?
On average it would be 2 pints a day like a Brit. But most of my beers are lowish in alcohol.
The stronger ones I don't drink that much. I define stronger as anything 6%+.
I made a table saison that was only 3% over the summer and I drank more of that as it was a nice recovery drink post long bike ride/swim/run.
If I drink less I lose weight and I don't need to lose weight. It's hard for me to consume enough calories in solid form when I'm sometimes needing 3000-4000 calories a day.
But that's why I mostly drink my own lower abv unfiltered homebrew. It's more like "food" then filtered commercial stuff.

Re: How much did you drink in 2017?
Odd year for me, for sure! I brewed only the first half of the year between life and health getting in the way! Here is the guestimated breakdown, from Jan thru April maybe 5 pints a week, during camping season May thru July this year (normally thru Sept) about 10 pints a week between home brew, commercial and shared home brew, did not have anything between mid August to mid November, mid Nov thru end of the year 4 pints a week. SO I brewed 41.5 gallons last year
Part 1 = 1280 oz
Part 2 = 1920 oz
Part 3 = 448 oz
Totaling 28 gallons
Add in the 25 gallons that was brewed and consumed at a charity event for the Browns Backers in Michigan
Totals 53 gallons consumed but I still have roughly 3 gallons in kegs left over. Leaving me with aprox 8.5 gallons of beer consumed that was commercial Craft or shared homebrews.

Ok, you lost me after the 28 gallons.
Did you drink the additional 25 + 8.5 more?
Damn, I sound like the beer police!

I can't give a number on this post. For one I have no idea and can't count that high anyways. Two: I keep good records on what I brew, but have no idea on what I have drank in between and a lot. Best estimate at least 4 0r 5 a day and sometimes more and some days less....some days nothing.....

Estimate
3 beers per day x 12 oz = 36 oz per day x 365 days in a year = 13,140 oz per year divided by 128 oz per gallon = 102 gallons give or take whether I drank 1 or 3 glasses per day.
