Tickle me Nelmo
Had a beer at a local brewery, tried to "clone it" without knowing anything about it.....
It's a Pale Ale with Nelson Sauvin and Mosaic. Simple grain bill with 2-row a bit of Munich and a bump of honey malt.
I'll post the recipe later if anybody is interested. It's a Pale Ale with a large whirpool/dry hop addition of both hops to impart the flavor and aroma. It pushes the technical limits to an IPA but it shouldn't be very bitter. Beersmith calculates the IBU's at ~85 but again, they are late additions for the most part.
I'll be kegging it this weekend and hopefully it attenuates better than previous batches as I targeted a 150 temp this time around (when I normally shoot for 153/154).
I'll update with details, pics, etc.

Re: Tickle me Nelmo
I love a good pale ale, especially when it flirts with being an IPA. Please post the recipe, I would love to see it.

Re: Tickle me Nelmo
While I don't dislike Mosaic and NS hops, I like them better when they are blended with others. Mosaic and Simcoe are to my liking. Never tried Mosaic and NS. NS to me is a bit 'winey' by itself. That's not a bad thing, just not what I expected.
On another note, I've found when I switched to Bonlander Munich I like my beers more than other Munichs so I try to order that brand. I definitely notice the difference though it's hard to explain what I do notice.

Re: Tickle me Nelmo
I'm lucky in that I like both of them as stand alone hops as well as mixed with others. This combo worked really well so I'm hoping I can get something similar.
Re: Tickle me Nelmo
Looks like a good recipe. Looking forward to hearing how it comes out.

Re: Tickle me Nelmo
This came out really good - I'm happy. The first pour a few days ago had the aroma of an IPA, but now that I've drawn a couple, the hop aroma has subsided (odd). In any case, it's definitely an APA now, which was it's intended outcome.
It's clear, has a nice white head and is an easy-drinker with enough hop character to be interesting, but not enough to cause taste fatigue like some heavy IPAs can (to me anyway).
I split this batch into 2 2.5G kegs which both got carbed right away. One went directly into the kegerator, the other is in my office/rec room at about 55-60 degrees so it will be ready when I need to plop it into the kegerator, too. It will be interesting to see its character when it's ready to tap. I think it will be great, though - I don't see this one going downhill at all.

Re: Tickle me Nelmo
First pour of the rebrew on this. Like last time it is a bit hazy due to the late hope and the fact that it's the first pour, but the smell and taste are yummy.
Like last time, it's not IPA-level on either (to me) so it's easy to drink.
Maybe, just for fun, I'll add some gelatin 1/2 way through the keg just to verify that it doesn't change the taste. I know brulosophy did their own experiment, so I need to not fear the gelatin anymore.
