Looks like fun. I heard you got a late winter bit of snow. Guess it caused less to show up but more beer for you.
What was that ancient ale like?

Re: The No Post Post
I had gone to the event where they discussed it and debuted it (post here). It is quite good. Lots of fruit and funk and earthiness, with some sour. They had intended to serve it traditionally from a keg, but the keg line clogged with some of the seeds and such that were in the keg. Thus, lemons/lemonade...
... they poured it back into the amphora on top of a mesh bag o' spices... made for a fun talking point for the attendees... (look at that color/cloudiness, btw) It was so popular that they ended up pouring another keg of a different beer into it once that one was gone.
The event was a sellout, but it definitely didn't have the long lines/mad rush it usually has at opening. People did stream in later (though it didn't get any warmer), so by the end it was pretty packed.

Kegging that in the first place just seems wrong. It belongs in a clay vessel.

Looks like a great event, Swen. But I have to laugh at your response to the weather. As a native New Yorker, who went to college in western NY and lived in Rochester for a few years, this is puppy sh*t.
I remember when Buffalo experienced 4' of snow one winter. My wife called her twin brother in Rochester on their birthday a day or two later and asked him how they did in the storm. His reply? "Not bad; we only got about two feet."
ONLY got two feet of snow.
But I'm just joshin' ya. My mom is a born and bred Tennessee hillbilly (her words; not mine). She taught me the right way to make cornbread, and she always maintained that the further north you go, the sweeter the cornbread gets. I can attest to that. Cornbread muffins in Rochester should have frosting and sprinkles on 'em.
Regionalisms are fun, aren't they?

Sounds like it was a fun event, Too bad the weather was swened up though....swenocha wrote:Working at the East Nashville Beer Fest this past weekend, the big spring beer fest.... Over 70 breweries, Belgian tent, great food, and great music. But... with snow. And winter jackets. And insulated shirts. And three layers. And wool socks. And fleece lined pants. And gloves. And a scarf. And firepits. Ugh....

I'm a Hoosier native, so I've had my share of real winter. Just kinda screwed up to have flurries this late. The ENBF is usually a shorts-and-sundress kinda event...FedoraDave wrote:Looks like a great event, Swen. But I have to laugh at your response to the weather. OMG! How, what, where, when should I start?
OK, Denali Vision is where I'd start. But I have nothing to worry about, they probably all taste horrible, right?

It's great that they seem to be getting more varieties on the shelf now... but personally a LOT of them taste very similar to me, so I don't go out of my way to try to catch the different varieties. That's not to say they aren't good... they are actually quite good. But I can't see worrying about catching each new one they put out because of the similarity. Of course, I think the same thing about Trillium, Lawson, Treehouse as well... I usually just grab a new one occasionally if out at a bar/restaurant if I see one, but I don't invest in weekly purchases of the new cans or anything.
