2018 Ohio State Fair

I entered my Cross Czech Pilsner in the Czech Premium Pale Lager category and my Simply Simarillo Session IPA into the Specialty IPA category. The Pilsner didn’t place. But it was up against some serious competition. The Best of Show for the entire competition was a Czech Premium Pale Lager.

The session IPA took 3rd place out of 33 entries in that category. I’m absolutely thrilled. I’ve been entering this competition for a few years and I finally got a medal.

I never got thru the thread of texts this weekend due to a fairly hectic schedule and totally lost track.

I especially am envious of your 2 keg coolers tho. Please mention those in your will to me.

Got the score sheets back. The Pilsner scored a 25. I'm not surprised there, I had some weird things happen to this beer after I dropped the gelatin and did a keg transfer. It tasted really off for the first couple of pours after the transfer, then it seemed to improve later. Weird is all I can say.

The Session IPA scored a 40. 42 from one judge and 38 from another. I'm thrilled with that score for sure. That score deserves one of these....
