I love it, "Asst. Brewer-Quit"
And I love me some Swaen malt but it's hard to find most of the time.
Is this really your 300th batch?

That's very cool. I'm only around batch 75 since January 2013.
Making beer and stew for the Zombie Apocalypse.
Never mind, there it is.

Re: Batch #300
I don't even know how many batches I have made since I started back up. But it's a lot since I often do small batches and brew typically once a week or so when I do.

A Mr. B size batch just about every other FRI night.
I get Swaen products from Label Peelers in OH.
#10 bags of pale malt on sale this weekend for ~$10.50.

Re: Batch #300
I brewed batch 275 last weekend.
My first 90-100 or so were all Mr Beer sized batches. Some of those were overfilled to get 2.4 gallon batches.

Mad props to you too! That’s quite an accomplishment! Have no idea how many I’ve brewed. And I started in the late 70’s but stopped for about 20ish years.

Keep On Brewin'!
Looking back ... I spent way too much time trying on MrB recipes. My first 90-100 or so were all Mr Beer sized batches.
Knowing little about beer styles ... kept trying to find cans of hopped LME I really liked.
Moved on to Coopers LME for a while before trying my hand at mashing. Learned a lot @MrBeerFans.
Brew inside year-round every other FRI nite in climate controlled conditions atop a propane-fired kitchen stove with a 5.5G kettle and Baby Gas-X drops to control the foam front.
Everything ferments for three weeks.
Production = Consumption
Got into the sport of brewing beer @home back in the day after watching a DISCOVERY channel program about Prohibition workarounds.
It's done a decent job of filling the hole left in my life when I retired from hang glider.

Re: Batch #300
For the first year, most of my brews were HME based, but I started adding DME and LME my third batch in. Almost all of my batches had hop boils after about 6 months. After about a year, most of my batches were my own recipes, usually LME based and sometimes partial/mini mashes. I went around picking up after holiday clearance kits for a couple of years (including Beer Machine kits one year that were cheaper than the DME they included). But then started just making my own recipes (with the occasional kit). A year or two ago, I bought some cans of HME on sale because they were so cheap that they were less per lb than the bulk LME that I get from my LHBS. That taught me the value of using fresh LME. When I buy LME from my LHBS, it comes from a barrel, and it's rare that it was tapped more than a week ago. Beer made from really fresh extract can be very good. Beer made from extract that isn't very fresh is less good. I'm hoping that beer made from all grain is even better.
