Yep, it's a sticky already. But I imagine a lot of visitors do like I do, and use the "show new posts" feature without ever going into the sub-forums, so...out of sight, out of mind.

It's Merry Christmas New User season! In that spirit...BUMP:

Anyone who wants to be added to the Borg user map, see here:

You need a Google account to edit the map.
I volunteer to add anyone who does not have a Google account. Just post your location or ZIP code, or PM me if you prefer.

https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF& ... 2f9f4cba02

If you have a Google account, here's the instructions:

Click on the link above.
Either type your ZIP or town name into the search bar, or navigate by clicking/dragging and using the +/- buttons to zoom in. If you typed into the search bar, click the back button at this point.
Click the EDIT button above the list of names in the left panel.
In the map, right-click on your desired location and select "Add a Placemark".
Under Title, put your name. Also, you can add the name of your location in the description field, if you want.
On the icon field, click on it, then select My Icons, and pick one.
Click Ok, and then click Done on the left panel.

It looks like Google has changed the interface, rendering my instructions above obsolete. Gee, what a shock - why leave things on the Internet the way they are, when you can change them constantly?!

Bumping this thread, with revised instructions to reflect the new map interface Google implemented.

Here's the link to the BeerBorg.com User Map:
https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF& ... 2f9f4cba02

Anyone who wants to be added to the Borg user map, here's how:

You need a Google account to edit the map.
I volunteer to add anyone who does not have a Google account. Just post your location or ZIP code, or PM me if you prefer.

If you have a Google account and want to add yourself, here's the instructions:
Click on the link above.
Log in to your Google account if not automatically logged in.
Click on the "edit" button in the box on the left.
Type your ZIP or city/state into the search bar. (Or choose whatever level of detail you're comfortable with, from a privacy perspective.)
It will drop a pin on the map.
Click on the pin, and click on "Add to map".
Click on the pin again, and choose the pencil icon (edit).
Type your desired name in the title box (your Borg handle, most commonly). You can optionally add a description in the second box.
Click "Save" and you're done!

Hey Borg! Does anyone have an idea as to why my pin is out in the Pacific Ocean?
I checked the zip code and it was correct, but it is a long way from sooner land.

Because the zipcode is just the description of the marker, it could be anything, and any Yahoo with a Google account can edit the map. I fixed it.

Edit - The map had a bunch of errors on it. Now it says you need permission to edit it - something is definitely wrong with it. Will advise if/when I get access again.

If it's messed up -- and locked -- it must be something Google did recently, cuz it was fine a week or two ago when I last looked at it.
Sorry...busy day/night today, gotta run now. But I will try to get it squared away some time tomorrow.

It should be back to normal once CC can change the permissions. You did not, and will not need a Google account to view it, once that is fixed.

Should be fixed now. Nobody living in the ocean, either, from what I can see. :)

Give it a try and post to this thread w/ any issues.

Works fine. I put a test in Wyoming, saved it, and re-entered, then deleted it.

Thanks CC.
