The older they get, the more they dribble!
You recite that at ball games too?

A friend here, who is probably my worst influence in terms of beer buying, is moving to SD (where he moved from a year or two ago). He's selling his beer (so as not to move it cross country). Wants to sell as a lot.

Ummm... wow.
I decided to pass when asked, citing that I would have no place to put all of this. Though, if I think it through, had I bought it I would likely have lots of storage space after the divorce that would no doubt occur and subsequent move to the new bachelor pad.
EDIT: Appears he sold it within a few hours of offering it up. So, sorry if any of you all were interested...

Does he even drink beer?

WOW! What was he asking for it?
Though I'm going away from being a beer hoarder. Like the lab tech at Yazoo said, "Once a beer is D Negative, it only goes downhill from there."

Yes... he drinks a lot of beer... and shares a lot of bottles at tastings.
Inkleg wrote:WOW! What was he asking for it?
Not sure. I think it's about 300 bottles, so if I estimate $15/bottle (which is low for several of those), that'd be $4500ish. But I have no clue what he was actually asking for it.

Damn...that's one hell of a collection. I think I would have found a way to ship that across country.

He'll quickly accumulate a new hoard. He transported a bunch when he moved here from Cali a few years ago. He's constantly trading and he is in several barrel clubs and such. I guess it was just too much hassle to transport. I think they are trying to pack/move light...

He's a great guy, and I'm sad to see him and his family go. To a lesser degree, I'm sad to see his beer cellar go. He was very generous with some very high end beers that I normally haven't gotten the opportunity to try (as I've thus far avoided the trading world). On the bad side, I've probably bought out a cellar of beers for myself (and spent money I would have never spent) just to have beers to bring to tastings and such. Can't go someplace where people are sharing Cantillon Lou Pepe and bring Fat Tire...
Most beer folk I've experienced here aren't judgmental on that front, but from a personal feeling of fairness, I try to buy some good beers for tastings anytime I travel.

There's a brewery in Salt Lake City that brews a batch every year using wild hops. They Newberry know what is going to be like and it varies year to year. If that fence is on private property, make sure you ask before harvesting.

Hey Reb, where is the second pic...of you picking hops?
@ ChuckN
XXXX act O moondy.
@ Swen wow everyone is asking how much but I'm curious know what beers; that looks like quite a carefully assembled collection. If he took future trade points I'd bet he'd have an instant cellar as soon as they got moved in. Wonder if he broke any records?
