My latest, Saison d'Été

Man this is good, light, refreshing...

Can't tell it's 8.5% ABV! Scary!

You can taste the Belle Saison yeast, very nice, just a hint of tartness.... Some fruityness..

The aroma is of citrus, sweet orange...

The taste follows suit adding a slight note of tangerine followed by the light peppery finish of the grains of paradise.

And pretty dry, 'digestable' as the Belgians would say...

Awesome!

I had a bottle of my Dr. Who Astronaut American Ale (a pale ale). I made it from one LME of Mr. B/Coopers American Ale mixed with one old Mr. B can of WCPA. I also did a Cascade dry hop addition. It was very good with an ABV of 5.0%

Grand assortment this evening: started with a homebrewed Cherry Stout from a neighbor, then some homebrewed Belgo Belgian IPA, now enjoying a 10 Barrel Brewing 'Hop Project' #2; dry-hopped with some of my favorite hops: Cascade, Centennial, & Amarillo...

Founder's Dirty Bastard. It was hiding with my other brews, brought by my parents back in April. First non-homebrew I've had at the house in some time. It's quite good.

Yesterday's beers...

Did a small pumpkin ale comparison...Saranac Pumpkin Ale, Elysian Night Owl Pumpkin Ale, and Arcadia Ales Jaw-Jacker.

Saranac has the last few years been far and away my favorite Pumpkin Ale. This years offering seems...meh. No impressive scent, flavors are alright but seemed to have a slight sour aftertaste. Definitely not what I remembered from last years batch. I have a bud who has a few of last years lingering around so will hopefully grab one this weekend and compare head to head.

The Elysian Night Owl, pretty dang good! Good nose, great flavors, the spices work well and the pumpkin definitely comes through. I got a sixer about a week ago and save 2 to specifically compare to Saranac, Night Owl is definitely better than this years Saranac offering.

Jaw-Jacker - strange. Borderline false advertising! Has a picture of a big scary pumpkin on it so you assume it's a pumpkin ale. On closer observation pumpkin is not mentioned anywhere on the bottle. All I can really say is cinnamon, cinnamon, cinnamon, and more cinnamon! Nose, flavor, everything. No pumpkin whatsoever. Not terrible if you like cinnamon which I do, but definitely not a pumpkin ale.

And right now I'm drinking a Guiness...
