I've taken to using a handheld mixer I inherited from the wife when I "accidentally " ran water on it. She got scared and I let it dry out a couple of weeks before I used it.
Works fantastically. Can fill the head space with foam in just a couple of minutes!
Cheers!
Yep. I will be watching and operating under NASA standards for stability and clearance. I thing the risk is worth the reward though, and I'm excited to try it out this weekend.
As the yeast are taking their dive into the wort I'll be laughing like a mad scientist and saying.... "Take this you little bitches! Gorge! Gorge! Gorge!"
...and Cheers! back at you!
EDIT: Just to add, as in NASA procedure, I will be having a test run with standard H2O before the actual launch date.

Holy tornado of love! I can't believe how well that worked. Wow.
I had so much action that when I went to pitch the yeast there was a bunch of malt foam on top.
So I gave it a gentle stir right at the end with a spoon before I put the lid on. . Pitching temp was 70°. (Patriots Pride)
Here's the guard setup that I came up with. It worked like a charm. Definitely adding that to my brew/sanitation list.
Thanks for all the suggestions and ideas!

Good job on the splash shield!
It's the exact same principle as the one I employ with the wine degasser and bung for my five-gallon carboys, which also works great. I love it when these homemade improvements work better than we anticipated. Aerate away, me boy!

Just a FYI. I just ordered one of these
http://www.meritline.com/black-handheld ... 1618a6e1c1 It's called a coffee 'frother' what ever that is, it is 4 bucks, and I've dealt with meritline before they are in china and it takes a couple of weeks to get things, but I thought I'd give this a try. Aerating wort ought to be similar to coffee 'frothing'.
