First pour: Eight Point IPA by Devil's Backbone Brewing Company (Lexington, Virginia)
Info from the Brewer's website (http://www.dbbrewingcompany.com/ourbeer.aspx): American-style India Pale Ale. This pale bronze beer is medium in body with intense hop flavor and aroma. Our IPA is brewed in the style of the “west coast” with robust hop character coming from American grown varieties of hops. IPA’s are amongst the most popular craft brewed beers as they have moderate strength and tons of flavor. This is not your Grandfathers beer! 5.9% alcohol by volume, 60 IBUs
Overall Impressions: Small off-white head with fair retention and a bit of lace left behind. Clear, copper/gold hued brew. Nose is mild pine and citrus with some slight mineral notes. Body is medium with a steady carbonation. Grainy malts are dry and a bit toasty. Light fruity, citrus hop flavors, some leaf and pine. Dry finish with a tame bite. Well-crafted and worth a try.
