Just an FYI...You're suppose to filter the beer through you kidneys before you throw it out.

If you think that was bad get a load of this! These were the remaining bottles that didn't break but started to leak from the pressure.

Thanks for the pron bro, but if it were me, I would have let them warm up in a container rather than pop all those tops. Still.... love the volcano explosions!

I've had problems with regular fridges in my garage - they would either get too cold and freeze the contents, or too warm, and defrost completely (I've lost 50 pounds of frozen meat a few years back). Speaking to appliance pros, apparently, most residential refrigerators do not function properly in temperatures of less than about 45F or so (or above 90F). I bit the bullet and bought a Gladiator Chillerator for my garage - it's pricy, but rated for operating in temperatures from 0F to 115F, and has been absolutely bullet proof in the 3 years I've owned it.

I had a case of San Pelegrino sitting on the garage floor, and I saw that it was starting to freeze, so I moved the bottles into the fridge to warm them up (as funny as this sounds!). Now the cold spell is over, and there are no casualties - the inside of the fridge was constant 38F, even when the garage temps fell into the teens (with -16F outside).

This would also make a killer kegerator - it would easily fit 4-5 kegs; I actually used half of it with 2 kegs with picnic taps until I built my keezer.

Oh, and Leigh, condolences on your loss.... :(

Those are key points, Russki, that most people don't understand. My in-laws had (no longer living there) a freezer in their garage and would complain about it's performance all the time. I plan on moving it to my basement in the future...

My precious!!! At least you opened them in the sink, unlike the overcarbed root beer my son made and put outside at minus 3 to chill. Opened the partially frozen bottles on the counter without even a glass handy..sigh...the brain of a 15 yr old. Then looks to everyone for help as the RB bomb covers the kitchen    Guess who had just mopped the floor that morning...SWMBO could not yell at me this time.

For brewing, yes. I was referring to people who just stick the appliance in a garage for food storage and then complain when it freezes or runs all the time because it's outside normal temp ranges. I told them repeatedly to move it indoors. They also have their hot water heater in the garage, so in the winter it runs a lot. With them out of the house I have it on "Min" now so I don't have to drain it out, but next year I plan on emptying it for the winter.
