I haven't gone too far to the dark side. I added some wheat malt and hops to Aztec Cerveza because I don't like Corona. It wasn't what I was shooting for, but made decent beer. I readily modify recipes to fit ingredients on hand, but I try to stay close: crystal 20 for 10, Munich for Vienna etc. I tried two hot pepper beers friday. One was "interesting", the other undrinkable.

Infected beer that had what looked like a hairy eyeball staring back at me out of the fermenter. Which actually tasted fine - a bit funky but still fine - when all was said and done.

Don't fear the hairy eyeball.

Raspberry Jalapeno beer
Orange Pineapple Hefe
Braggot with Buckwheat honey
Jalapeno smoked beer with 50% smoked malt
Monks of St Paul's Cathedral gruit with herbs and home malted oats
Kentucky Cream Ale with homemade sour malt
Ancient Egyptian beer with home malted emmer wheat and saffron
Watermelon beer
Pumpkin beer

Whenever I get around to it my next brew will be "Sumerian Beer" with 2 kinds of homemade sour malt (as well as some malted barly) and thyme rather than hops
I've got some whole "red millet" on the way to make some African banana beer with quinine bark, and some African millet beer.

Nothing too unusual...

Seems like some straight forward stuff, you should start thinking outside the box a little and expand your horizons. :jumpy:

A couple of times I used oak cubes in my English ale. I'm crazy like that.

The thread about it is at one of those other forums. :)

Here's a pic. The color is from the saffron.

I remember that one. I think it was Philm00x and it was a micro (Red Hook ?)not a home brew. Maybe he'll see this and chime in, it seems like he said it was okay but not great, something off the wall with boysenberries, possibly a sour.

I think it was Swenn.

I know Swen posted a pic of General Zod from Yazoo that was brewed with Jolly Ranchers IIRC. That one was bright green.
