Forgot to note this batch was bottled on the 23rd and is currently tucked away carbonating. I plan on sampling a bottle on the 4th to see if it's ready but most likely it will be ready by the 11th.

How did the finished product turn out. I really like Cascade hops and think using your own is really cool.

I can't believe I forgot to update this thread especially since there was a good story.

Unfortunately my dad has been in and out of the hospital a few times recently so I have been spending as much time up at his place as I can. Last weekend I brought up a case of my Fresh Cascade IPA and popped it in the fridge. There were some other guests up to visit my dad that weekend as well. My dad told them I brought homebrew and most of the people said they didn't like homebrew because it was too yeasty. Well at dinner one brave soul decided to have a bottle with me. As soon as the beer was poured into the glass one of the people on the other side of the table asked if it was a SNPA. I explained it was similar and used the same hops but it was a little stronger and I grew some of the hops. By the end of dinner everybody had sampled it. Only one person didn't like it but he said it was just way too bitter and he'd rather stick with his Bud Light.

But overall the beer turned out excellent. The smell is the first thing you notice and it smells great. I do wish it finished a little drier but I will work on my procedure to keep the correct temperature range and possibly try BRY-97 as I haven't been happy with my last couple of batches using US-05. But the bitterness covers the extra sweetness pretty well. It's got a nice smooth bitter finish that lingers just a little bit.

Thanks! I'm growing Cascade too, got very little this year, expect more in the future.
