I have only had a couple IIPAs, and sometimes I wonder if they are a bit too hoppy. But my mouth watered when I read your recipe!

You know you're a home brewer when ... you're thinking about a beer somebody else is going to be brewing.
I saw that Paul threw Chris a challenge on his Ghost in the Machine thread and while I was sitting at a stoplight in town yesterday a name popped into my head out of the blue.

Chris since you've already got this one named I'll keep Mission Ishoppable for something else but I doubt it will have 158 IBUs. :p

Please film this brew session for posting so we can watch you do the hop those hop additions.

The mash is on. Here's a quick picture of the hops lined up, marked for time and ready to go.

Nice Chris.

I just picked up 5oz of Apollo hops earlier today. I'm 30 minutes into the boil of Bela's IPA, Centennial hops start to finish. Think I'll use some of the yeast cake from it for the Hop Juice in 2 weeks.

All done. OG was 1.076!!! Right on the money. I think I have finally figured out my equipment and have BeerSmith dialed in to it also. This is the second recipe in a row where I nailed the numbers.

The color was light, right where I wanted it to I be. The taste of these big IPA's is a little deceiving at this point. It was malty sweet, but it should be at 1.076. And it's was bitter too. It was actually similar to where my Pliny recipe was at this point. It's hard to tell all the hops apart right now. I think it has some real potential. Should be a good one.

Congrats on dialing things in, that has to make you happy.

And I guess I know WHY there is a hop shortage now.

Awesome. I'll be getting to this next week as I have all the stuff, even the Apollo. Not yet sure which hops I'll use though.
Looking forward to it.

Use the Apollo....they had a very interesting and peculiar dank scent to them when I opened up the pouch.

I've used them in 3 beers so far and all were good though they all only had a small amount.
