Take a minute to introduce yourself to the Borg and tell us what's brewing. You can ask questions here too!

welcome! former Detroiter here... got my start with mr beer too. watch your fermentation temps. have a tray or something under your fermenter in case of blow outs. perv the fermentation all you want, just don't open the keg til its done... and watch out for spigot failures! if you get one be sure to contact their customer support and get them to refund or replace your product cost and send a new spigot. don't be in a hurry to get overly creative... take your time and have fun! it's a great hobby but in my case it quickly has become a monster! when you find yourself using words like 'specific gravity' and 'ibu's' when talking to total strangers... relax... you've become one of us..one of us... one of us.... :)

Welcome, Rick!

The great thing about The Borg is that we don't judge anyone on what methods they use. We'll offer help and advice no matter if you want to learn a new technique or just want to know how to improve your current process. You can take this hobby *cough*obsession*cough* wherever you want to take it. And we'll be there to assist.

It's this attitude that makes this place so great, and that spurred me to create The Hat's First Rule of Brewing:

If you like the beer you made, YOU DID IT RIGHT!
Obey The Hat!

Glad you found us, this is the best place to come for brewing and fellowship.

We have 5 Mr. Beer fermenters, though I'm not quite sure how that happened.

Welcome RickS! Glad you found us!!

Like many others on here, I started with Mr. Beer too. It's a great gateway drug into the addiction... ;) As others have said, it doesn't matter how you start, only that you enjoy the process and of course the final product. We're here to help if you need it. Keep posting about your brew adventure!

I purchased a Mr. Beer kit, and have just bottled the Classic American Ale that came with it. I know that those two words are pretty much a thing of the past for most of you, but I didn't know better until after I made the purchase.
Welcome! Mr. Beer is a fine introduction to the obsession, so don't you worry one bit about it.

That first brew might not be your best, but you will derive a great deal of satisfaction from it. You'll want to let that particular HME condition for at least 4-6 weeks, but don't be afraid to try one at 2 weeks just so you know what "green" beer tastes like.

Hey I have 9 MB fermenters, plus one for gluten free cider. And I still bottle into 1 Liter bottles. Started about a year ago, still do extract, although I do my own hop boils, and am having a blast. This is without a doubt a very cool forum, and the people here have great advice. You have just happened to have found probably the best place to ask questions and get encouragement with no judgement about making beer. We just like beer, like to make it and don't even mind if you go crazy and make about 20 batches of Saisons in a row. :)

Greetings and Salutations. If you can find it, look up the "Simple Guide Line". They even have it posted over at the MB site.. That should answer a lot of unknown questions for you. Otherwise, just feel free to pop out a question whenever it strikes your fancy.
We're a weird group here, but fun loving.
And never get Swened. It's painful..
The Nong Brewery defines "Fermentation" as: Making "Rot" a Good Thing

:borg: Welcome to the BeerBorg Information Center. You will be assimilated. Resistance is Quite Futile: WE have BEER.
