Thanks CC . . . yup that would be very cool, unfortunately my GPA passed long before I was born and my Father didn't return to brewing after leaving home to serve two different enlistments during WWII. I enlisted at age 17; he passed 19 days after my six year Navy enlistment was served.

We never had much time to interact adult to adult so I could learn more than I currently know of the family beer history because when I came home on leave, we were too busy drinking beer and swapping sea stories. :clink:
A hearty thanks to you and your late father for your service! Anyone who enlisted during WWII and brewed beer, too, is a hero in my book. :D

Too bad a recipe or two didn't get handed down, but the inclination to brew obviously did, and that's cool all by itself.

Thank you very much for acknowledging our service and that of countless others!

My Father and I agreed on little back when I “knew it all” four decades ago but we did concur that our service was to Flag, Constitution and the Nation for which they stand while fully acknowledging and honoring those brave souls who went before us suffering the ultimate sacrifice to make it so.

Thank you ALL for the kind hospitality and valuable assistance I’ve already received from folks in the beginner forum.

Had a White IPA that formed a yeast cake which I have NEVER encountered before, thought it was infected but bottled it I anyway . . . come to find out, consensus is I made the right call.

Just finished bottling a MRB “Powerful Patriot Ale” recipe and can hardly wait!

That makes six gallons in bottle right now; four gallons were done at the same time in sync and now this last one.

Three empty LBKs and six different brews sitting ready to cook . . . what to do? :muahaha:

Welcome to the Crazy Train!

You have yourself a nice little pipeline forming there already......I need to kick myself in the ass and get brewing. I kind of sloughed off in 2014 thus far but redeemed myself by brewing to batches on back to back weekends not too long ago.

You'll find that this place is a wealth of info. We have brewers that are extract only and we have all grain brewers and we have everything in between so don't ever think there's a stupid question. Ask away and the BORG will shower you with good information that I'd dare say would be hard to come by elsewhere.

Happy brewin!

Thank you! Yeah, I know that slacking thing . . . using LBKs makes this more like work than fun until the reward comes around.

The dedicated brewing/conditioning area, a tub & shower for the guest rooms down stairs where the temp is 70 +/- a few degrees on the 100 degree days we are currently having is handy but becoming a bit crowded. I’m hoping we won’t have guests any time soon!

I’ve done very well thus far IMHO without assistance doing simple stuff and am happy enough with the results that I don’t see myself moving up anytime soon. So, another LBK batch or two . . . here I come!!

That yeast cake assist was great reassurance and I hope the batch proves it! You better believe I’ll ask for help when in doubt . . . great group of folks and FINALLY a robust modern forum to utilize!!!

The antiquated MRB forum, rich in information as it is WILL NOT BE MISSED. I’ll lurk there for stuff but am not going to bother creating a new user account simply because it won’t acknowledge my dozen requests to reset the forgotten password for my original handle.
