BB2 and I are totally happy with our SMEIBB process and don't feel the need to change/expand BUT it is entirely because of the existence of the forum when we got our kit as a gift that we ever started and are now still brewing.

Like so many others we got started as receivers of an MB kit as a gift but I was so skeptical that I lurked the forum for months before we actually brewed a batch.

You guys who got "The Gift" in front of us taught us so much that not only did we not pitch the thing in the trash but we actually had enough understanding to not be intimidated so our early ventures were fun and exciting. (That's right about where the obsession part kicked in.)

Then "THE HAT" sealed the deal with the RCE; once we got a mentor encouraging us it was a done deal. So :fedora: I love you. :)

And HB you get a lot of love too for helping us learn what a huge value brewing software brings to the table. HB we LOVE YOU MAN.

I would not have bought so many of the old Mr.Beer refills on clearance. I would have learned about temp control sooner. I would not have bought two sets of half liter PET bottles and moved to glass sooner. And I would have moved to extract recipes sooner. Great learning experience, but in hindsight I`d do things different.

I'm pretty much with Rick on this, I have so many PET's that I don't use and 4 LBK's (I still do use them some and also for starsan storage.) But no I'm happy I started the way I did and wouldn't have done things much different. I do know I spent a lot of money in the beginning and now I can make more and better beer for less.

I enjoyed Mr. Beer to get a feel for the process, to see if I would like
brewing, or even, to see if I could brew! :p
I would have moved to AG sooner, mainly for the cost factor.
I was intimidated, because I read that alot of LHBS owners, were ridiculing folks that were brewing with Mr. Beer.
It took me 5 months to visit mine, and to my surprise, he was totally gung-ho on Mr B's process.
His exact words, "Alot of award winning beer has been brewed with extract"!
I'll never forget it. We have become very good friends!

Also, after I started AG, I would have bought large!
Everything to do at least 6 gallon batches THEN!
Not add on as necessary!
Alot cheaper that way! :p
