This sounds like a great time. I've been meaning to visit Nashville. I might do this depending on work conflicts.

You might just change the whole meaning of being Swen'd![emoji6]swenocha wrote:Oh, there is more than country down Broadway, my friend... lots of good rock/alt/jazz/r&b as well. For example, Foo Fighters are playing tomorrow night at the Mother Church, and Jack White always has something going on around town. National Underground is owned by Gavin DeGraw and his brother. Hayley from Paramore lives right down the street from me, and Kings of Leon and the Black Keys are from here as well. Lots of great music to be had... country, yes... but also any other genre that interests.

How about hotel info to try to stay in relatively close proximity!

However, I have to raise a big concern. Based on the results of our survey (see below), will there be a chaperone? While not that there's anything wrong with what this implies (Seinfeld...), remember to double lock your doors...

Best Western Music Row is where I, RedBEERd, Inkleg and Blackduck are staying. Kealia may be going but won't know for awhile.
This hotel is close by to many things and we'll likely group up into cabs or whatever to get to where we have to go. Plus, since there's rumors we might have to drink beer and other spirits, cabs are prolly the best way to move around safely. Doubt they'd want us silly folks on a bus!

Re: Nashville - An Open Invite to All
In terms of hotels, we found that the Best Western was the best combination of price and location. There is a Comfort Inn in that same area, which is pretty central to a lot of areas (a mile from downtown entertainment district, within a mile of SoBro/midtown/Vandy, three blocks from Gulch/brewery district, and within walking distance of the naked statue area... could conceivably walk to everything if so inclined). There is also a Fairfield Inn right across from Yazoo in the heart of the Gulch and brewery district. There are plenty of hotels to pick from, but the nicer ones downtown can be spendy unless you can find a deal of some sort. So, you have to make a quality vs. distance decision. Obviously you can get a cheaper hotel further from downtown (the airport area is very reasonable, for instance). I can give recommendations on areas if you have questions regarding the different parts of town.

Re: Nashville - An Open Invite to All
I use TripAdvisor quite extensively and have found that if you read through the comments they are enlightening.
Best Western Plus Music Row - 4 out of 5 stars - some good recent reviews but undergoing renovations.
Comfort Inn reviews are worse.
On the other hand, the Fairfield Inn is brand new, like in opened weeks ago. Nothing beats a new hotel. Only one review on TripAdvisor, but Marriot site has great reviews. Seems like it's twice the price though.
Hope this helps.
Edit - stars on the RIGHT are based on reviews, the left is at Swenocha noted.

Re: Nashville - An Open Invite to All
We did a fair amount of Expedia/TripAdvisor/Travelocity research in reviewing potential hotels. The BW has an 84% positive rating and 3.9 out of 5 overall, so it's rating is actually pretty good.
I believe that the 2.5 stars out of 5 (on the left side of the image) refers to the hotel class (TripAdvisor uses Expedia star ratings -- http://www.expedia.com/Hotel-Star-Rating-Information: "This classification contains limited-service properties (often all-suite economy properties in North America) offering upgraded quality and expanded comfort, without the amenities of full-service hotels such as a restaurant or bell staff. An expanded Continental breakfast, including hot items, is often served in a breakfast room. In Asia, multiple on-site dining options may be offered, and at times in the Americas and Europe basic full-service properties will appear.").

Re: Nashville - An Open Invite to All
Good point. They list different ratings, left side is Expedia as you noted, right side is reviews. I amended my post.

Re: Nashville - An Open Invite to All
I think there weren't many rooms left when we booked. RedBEERd called the hotel directly and booked us. Not sure what he used to get a discount but it was very close to the price all the online one's were.
Nashville, very much like New Orleans as a tourist area, is a relatively expensive city. But, when you have so much to offer tourist, they can easily get away with it. I'm not dissing it, just saying that the popular areas aren't cheap and local is worth paying for many times.

I believe I am committed to watch a pack of 5 dogs (besides my own!) on those dates... If that changes or I'm wrong, then maybe I can get there, but I have a bad feeling it will not.
If I do go, I'll have to watch out for a psycho x-girlfriend who lives in them parts.

Re: Nashville - An Open Invite to All
Correct regarding the BW being low on rooms, and the Comfort Inn appears to be booked for that weekend anyway. I would probably suggest either booking the Fairfield, the Hampton, or the Homewood (if any of those are in the budget), or alternatively commuting in from the airport area. The Sheraton by the airport is usually a great value, and it's a really nice place, for instance. The Hilton Garden, Homewood, and Doubletree out of the main loop are also very reasonable. On the west side, Extended Stay by Vandy is not a bad price and not totally out of the way either.

What about that company called HomeAway? Y'all can rent a bungalow and all stay under one roof while doing taste flights.

That's a really good idea. I'll bet there are several rentals in East Nashville. I actually have a friend that rents a house in that fashion down here in downtown Franklin.
