Yea...the manager is awesome. I dropped him a request on twitter last week to see if he could get it in. He replied last night and told me he had 3 bottles in and they were in the back with my name on it. And he asked me to reply to let him know how many I wanted. So I told him I would take 2 of the three and see you tomorrow.
He takes great pride in getting different stuff in. He has a special request box in case you want something that he doesn't have. And he does his best to get it in.

I cracked on of these open to drink with my slice of pear pie and banana cream pie after a healthy dose of turkey and all the appropriate sides.
I didn't take a picture, because it looks exactly like the one in the OP. My opinion....it's weird. It was lightly carbed and had a fairly light mouthfeel. The aroma was primarily coffee with a very slight hint of cocoa. And it was a heavy coffee aroma. The flavor was also upfront coffee...then it dissapated to the ale that it really wants to be. It pretty obvious that the coffee and chocolate flavors come from flavor additions as opposed to roasted malts. And I think that's what makes it weird for me. It's almost like it's an artificial flavor added to it. So basically it doesn't have the fuller mouthfeel that a stout should have and the flavor and aroma is just too artificial to me. I guess it's time for a slice of apple pie now.
For all those that will be in Nashville, I'm bringing a bottle of this with me so you guys can taste it and make up your own mind.

Thanks for thinking about us Nashville guys.
So, if you had your eyes closed and had never seen the color of this beer or heard the name but did a true, blind tasting, would you have thought it much different than other stouts?

Yes...I think I could have picked it out. It's different. Between the lack of mouthfeel and the lack of fullness of flavor, I think I could have picked it out. It just tastes different than a stout. It's close, but different. It's almost like they tried TOO hard to make it like a stout. You get the coffee and cocoa right up front then it goes away and it's kind of like a bland ale after that. Whereas a stout has somewhat of a lingering aftertaste of the dark malt flavors. That part is just not in this one.

Can't wait to hear what you think....I am bringing a bottle to Nashville too, so anyone that is going and can't find it, don't worry, I've got you covered.

OK, I waited and decided to try this yesterday. Not very crazy about it and it wouldn't matter what color it is, dark or not......I just don't care for it.
I do get the coffee and I also get a spicy flavor as well as aroma. And, as I try to appreciate beer styles that I might not like, I try to get something good out of them. This one was hard to find something in it that I liked. Not a bad beer, just not one I enjoyed.
Furthermore, I'm not sure they've achieved what they set out to and to me, not what they have printed on the label. Other than it being a disguise, I don't feel they've succeeded.

I wasn't all that crazy about it but I couldn't put my finger on it. And since someone kicked over my half drunk glass, it saved me the trouble of having of finish it.
