Thank you for the kind words, thoughts and prayers.
I know this needs to be done for her sake.

Sorry you are having to make this decision, our pets really are family.

It's the hardest and yet most important decision to make. I hope you feel better in a few days.

So sorry to hear. Was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. Up until that last moment I questioned myself until I looked in her eyes and with her last breath she had that look that said to me "I finally feel no pain and can finally rest - thank you my best friend."

Teanie passed at 6:05 p.m. last night.
I hope I will never have to make this decision again in my lifetime.
The wife and myself cried like school girls, and I'm sure it will be quite a few
days before we feel ourselves again.
Again, thank you for your kind words, understanding and sharing of your own experiences.
This is what truly sets this board apart from any other!

Sorry about your tough decision. As much as I complain about my 2 dopey dogs they are our kids and it is never an easy process.

I am so sorry for your loss. Sometimes I wonder why I got another dog when I know I will just get really attached to him and then lose him. But the time I have with him makes up for it. Just knowing I can provide a warm happy home for a noble animal is a reward in itself.

As much as anyone can say it's just an animal, it's more than that. Pets are family, and losing one is like losing a part of your family. So sorry for your loss and may Teanie's spirit live on smiling down upon you!

And that's a good point, I thought that way when I had to put my 12 year old Redbone coon hound down with a bad hip and kidney problems, I hunted with him a lot of nights. I said I didn't want another dog to get attached to, but then I found Chester a big lanky Black & Tan Coon hound at the SPCA and I got him. He is a lazy house dog that is my best friend, and a complete playmate for the grandkids, no hunting for him (he's scared of cats) he likes to be with me all the time, and is more happier to see me when I come home then the SWMBO!

Weather you're going to get/have another dog is a decision that none of us make. Down in your heart of hearts, you know that you do not choose to get the dog. The dog chooses to get you.
